From Mon on Gyan, it went along the lines of, 'there has to be an agreement between the 3 parties, but I think Al Ain are pretty anxious to buy him'. Maybe indicating he is willing to let him go for the right price? I can't see Gyan wanting to come back here and be on his 30-40k a week when there's a chance he can sign a contract of about five times that much. Personally I'd still have him back here as on his day he is class, but if we were to sell how much should we be looking at? These guys are loaded so I'd say 15m+?
He can stay there for all I care, sell in the summer for as much as possible and let MON spend the money on the players he wants.
Well considering he is their leading scorer which had propelled them to the top of their league,I'd hazard a guess we have to be looking at 20 million , significantly these buggers would probably pay it too
they already paid 6 million loan fee this season? If Ghana/Gyan do well in the ACN then 20 million (26 million with loan fee included), if not so well then 15 (21) million
This. We should be asking clubs to bid not fix a price. These buggers have more money than sense so we might as well fleece them if he goes. Min £20m starting price imo. However, as said, I'd have him back as well just as easy. Early decision needed though.
OK Al Ain are mega rich. If they want him so badly then stick up the cash. Got 6m already. Get another 15m. 20m+ for MON. I'm sure he will do the biz. Gyan. A small dot in our history books quickly forgoton.
Journo on twitter saying we'd probably accept anything from 6m+ which seems a bit low. Although he did say we havnt paid anyway near the 13m for him cos he hasn't been around long enough to trigger clauses.
Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has suggested Al-Ain are keen to complete a permanent deal for Ghana international striker Asamoah Gyan . Gyan, 26, joined the United Arab Emirates club in September for a season-long stint worth £6m, with a view to a permanent move in the summer. "There has to be some agreeement between all three parties before anything materialises," said O'Neill. "I think the club that he is playing for are pretty anxious to buy him." Gyan, who is currently involved in the Africa Cup of Nations, joined Sunderland from French side Rennes in August 2010 for a fee of £13m. He has scored 11 goals in 37 appearances for the Black Cats. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16872794
Starting bids at £12,000,000, with a reserve of £15,000,000. (Liverpool will come in with a £40,000,000 offer) I would have him back if he wanted it mind.
Out of that 6 million for Gyan how much of it has gone on securing Bendtner and Bendtners wages, got to be a couple of million at least.
Forget the challenges directly concerned with football .... I think by far and away the biggest managerial challenge is giving the club a bigger profile The other night after the Norwich game someone wrote something about Seessignon and Mclean being taken by the "Big Boys".....Quinn has even used similar terminology......You never get that from Liverpool who now have 2 homegrown N/E boys....you dont get that higher profile by KOW TOWING to somebody who has just **** on you like that...BUT FOR THE GRACE OF MARTIN we could be Wigan now......I wouldnt have the "man" back to sweep up the changing rooms....whilst others would enjoy him doing his little dance...I prefer my heroes to have sweated for 17 months for the cause and then knock in a little volley from about 30 yards...... sell him for 63 trillion...ye broke my heart Gyan...I wanted ye to be Pele for us!
But potential investors like "his little dance" because cameras zoom in on it - and on their logos. And if potential investors like "his little dance", then so does our boardroom. That's the key to everything else here. One other point - according to SAFC.com last September, Al-Ain first approached us with an offer to buy and we turned them down flat. We are not going to sell this guy unless HE says he won't come back. And he's never done that.
He's not all that anyway to be honest, if we sell him for £10m in the summer then that's a canny profit. You can have all the talent in the world but if your ego is huge and your attitude isn't right then your not a good footballer. He's the robbie keane of Africa. Very patriotic, plenty of clubs, what has he actually done though? He's coming to his peak and we are the biggest club he's ever been at.
If Campbell stays fit and on form then I am not to bothered about getting gyan back. Sell him for big bucks and then make an audacious bid for Wellbeck. It would be very amusing if Man u did not win anything this season and we finish above Villa and win the FA cup. It would make Wellbeck and Bent think about why they left?
