Taking into account all the circumstances, who would you play at LB on Saturday?

Nice problem to have at last. As many have said we should try Traore as an out-an-out wide midfielder who can come back to support Taiwo as required. I doubt MH will have cottened on to that yet however.

Taiwo at LB and finally we can have a LW who can cross it in Traore, leave SWP and Mackie to fight it out to be on the right.

Given that we really need to win this game, I think I'd play Hill.
He would give us a bit more solidity and know how compared to Taiwo and Traore.

Taiwo looked a bit lost at times v Villa, I think he needs a few more weeks to bed in.
With Traore just coming back, I would start with Hill at LB, with Taiwo & Traore having roughly a half each left midfield.

Taiwo left back and push Armand forward as on the ball he can beat players as opposed to running into them like SWP does

    Too late. See above.

I don't understand why though as I think he has been solid whenever he has played.

Taiwo looked shaky against Villa. I'd rather put Traore there and push Taiwo to left mid for this one.

Slow and prone to stupid bumps and trips which lead to FKs and pens.

Reminds me of when Hollway played Padula on the wing and Tommy Williams at full-back. Let's let Wolves worry about us. The most threatening combination we can play down that side is Taiwo at the back and Traore ahead. Plenty of pace, plenty of power and two guys who are at least ok defensively when needed. The other wing is more of a conundrum as there are good arguments for Mackie, SWP or even Taarabt to play there.

Agreed Traore will probably be more of an attacking threat, but with new recruits in the back line I'd still rather have Traore there who's been playing there regularly all season alongside Ferdinand and Young. Taiwo hasn't had much game time this season from what I gather and has played left mid far more often in his career than Traore has.

On the right I think SWP should be given the chance. Almost feel sorry for him always stuck out on the left as he's clearly not comfortable there.

Total Football Cruyff 1974, Bowles and Francis 1975-6, swapping positions at will.......think we can do this with T&T on the left at least

    THIS! <cheers>
I think Hill knows the tackling finesse in England more than Taiwo does, and I just didn't see Taiwo even wanting to make any tackles in that left corner.

Best defense is a great offense, so lets just attack! Keep ball, move it around, be stingy and don't let them have it! Or, squeeze them in so there is no room on the deep wings that they have to go down the middle where we're pretty firm.

I'm with the majority..should be T'n'T, could be an explosive combination on the left. T needs some match fitness and there only one way to get that.

But I'm hoping the Hulse is Left Back in the changing rooms.

Traore was one of our better players before he went and Taiwo has been signed with Champion League experience and from one of the worlds greatest side ( and played 200 games for Marseille and 45 intl caps ) and we have people wanting to play Clint Hill. Really ???? CH days are numbered people, it won't happen.

Rangerw9 is bang on. What a silly thing it would be to play Hill.

Taiwo was nearly on the half-way line when the ball was played into Petrov for Villas second. Fair enough he stepped out to make a challenge, but there was two other rangers midfielders there to do that job. A dedicated left back would have been more disciplined and kept his shape thus protecting the channel.
For all those that have mocked the ability of Hill on this thread, he wouldn't have been so high up the pitch.
That goal was a classic example of the importance of keeping your shape.
Especially as we keep giving the ball away too cheaply.
