Hello and welcome to the official Not606 match thread for Monday's Barclays Premier League encounter between Liverpool & Tottenham Hotspur. The game is scheduled to be played at Anfield at 8.00PM on Monday 6rd of February 2012. The game will be broadcast on Sky Sports 1 and BBC Radio Five Live will have the radio rights to the game.

    Preview.

Both Liverpool & Tottenham Hotspur go into this Monday night fixture hoping to collect the three points to help push their respective seasons forward.

Liverpool harbour ambitions of reaching the top four and with Arsenal & Chelsea having difficult spells, Liverpool need to push forward and go for the three points tonight. We currently sit 6th in the Premier League with 38 points from 23 games. Sitting just 4 points behind 4th place Chelsea, we need to continue with the good form to push Chelsea for that fourth place. We have had too many slip-ups this season, especially at home, and Liverpool can't afford for this to happen again.

With Luis Suarez back after a eight-game ban, Liverpool will have a near enough full strength squad to choose from with the expection of long-term injury absentee Lucas Leiva. With Steven Gerrard available again after being rested again Wolves and the attacking trio of Craig Bellamy, Andy Carroll & Dirk Kuyt looking better with every game, Liverpool will feel confident. The defence is also looking strong. With Martin Skrtel & Daniel Agger forming an excellent partnership at centre-back and Glen Johnson & Jose Enrique on either side, Liverpool have only conceded 21 goals. (The joint second best in the league) These are players which can hurt the Spurs team.

We also come into the game on the back of some good results. After the, quite frankly, awful performance and result away at Bolton, Kenny Dalglish publicly criticised the players and it seems to have had a positive effect. Liverpool got a 2-2 draw at home to Manchester City which meant that they went into the final of the Carling. A 2-1 win over Manchester United in the F.A Cup and a comprehensive 3-0 victory away at Wolves sets up Liverpool nicely for this game!

Spurs have enjoyed an outstanding season. Currently sitting 3rd in the league with 49 points from 23 games, this is beyond most Spurs fans predictions at the start of the season. In the summer, many Spurs fans were worried about the interest from Chelsea in their midfielder, Luka Modric. This affected the start of the season for the North London side and they slumped to a 3-0 loss at Manchester United & a 5-1 loss at home to Manchester City.

Since those poor results, Spurs have been excellent. With the additions of Scotty Parker and Emmanuel Adebayor, Spurs have improved massively compared to last season and are an outside bet to win the Premier League. If they are to mount a late push for the Barclays Premier League title, this is a game they need to win. Spurs have good memories of Liverpool in recent times. They beat us 2-0 at Anfield last season and earlier in the season, Spurs tore Liverpool apart. A 4-0 victory for the Spurs was a massive result and helped them build momentum. Liverpool had two men sent off that day but still weren't good enough.

Despite a massive injury list which you can see below, Tottenham Hotspur still have quality available to them. In Luka Modric and Gareth Bale, they have two outstanding players and massive threats to Liverpool. With the steel of Scotty Parker in midfield and Emmanuel Adebayor up-front, they have players which can hurt the Liverpool team.

All of this points torwards an absolute classic. Here's hoping!

I was a bit surprised that it was that long!

After reading a few more previews on the game, I think Walker & Adebayor should make it. Van der Vaart is doubtful though.

I'd expect so. He's so out of shape for a professional sportsman. He looks overweight and his conditioning must be terrible since he's always picking up muscular injuries.

Better than any article you'll find in any newspaper (as per usual) great thread Chris <ok>

From a Reds point of view we'll simply have to have the back four and Pepe in top form for this game <ok> I'm looking forward to seeing how Kenny sets them up Monday, does Suarez come straight back in or does he show faith in the players who've been involved in the last 3 games? Can we deal with the pace of Bale and the Spurs full backs and the niftyness of Modric and VDV?

Hopefully we'll get another start from Bellamy after a 6 day gap between games and with Dirk hitting a bit of form all of a sudden we have options again so fingers crossed we can give as good as we get in this one. I'm going 2-1 with a late Gerrard winner <ok>

In fairness, Spurs have a decent squad these days, but one can't help but think it is all held together by 'Arry', as soon as he gets banged up for tax evasion then they will fall apart. Perhaps 'Arry's' mind has not been on tactics this week, so we might have a good chance of doing them over big time...

They (Spurs) will be a threat, beating them, will sit right up there with our achievements of the last week. I really think we can do it, it's all set in our favour. We have little injury concerns, Suarez's return will be a boost, not just for the team but also the crowd. Players look to be hitting form, and Kenny's critisism seems to have given the team a lift, we have looked quite steely recently. Just have a feeling we are going to finish really well.....

    It is.

Liverpool & Spurs fans don't get along on this site and every cross-board thread seems to turn into one massive argument. And after my match thread for the game at WHL was closed, I didn't see the point of posting this on both boards and it getting closed in a few days.

Spurs fans are quite mouthy at the best of times. Given there recent success they think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, *ossers. You have to hand it to Man City fans, they have remained most humble, despite there sucess.

    Good idea, imo Chris.
Any constructive input from them is welcome but if we get the rubbish some of them have been coming out with on the other threads then our mods can deal with it.
Excellent thread btw, Chris- as usual.

To be fair, spurs have done well, but if Harry is not banged up he will take the England job, Spurs are a flash in the pan. Small club, deluded fans. Expect Liverpool to win 4-0.

They are doing well and I don't blame them for being cocky if I'm honest, 'cause I know I certainly would be if we were up there and sitting comfortably in 3rd. But I seriously do hope we give them one *ucking spanking tomorrow! :)
