Problems for the pubs, but SNQ will be happy.. SOCCER chiefs claimed victory yesterday in a long-running legal dispute over the screening of live games in pubs. A High Court judge ruled that the Premier League had the right to prevent âunauthorised use of our copyrightsâ. Officials vowed that they will now clamp down on bars and clubs using foreign satellite systems to broadcast top matches without permission. The dispute centres on the supply of âdecoder cardsâ which allow pubs to show encrypted footage of games broadcast in Greece and Italy. They were sold for a fraction of the cost charged by Sky and ESPN which have exclusive deals with the Premier League in Britain. Lord Justice Kitchin, who announced his findings in London, said the dispute had raised âissues of wide interestâ . He said a lower court should now assess what profits pubs had made and what losses the league and broadcasters had suffered. But lawyers for publicans said the league and broadcasting firms had suffered âonly nominal or trivial damagesâ. A Premier League spokesman said: âWe will now resume action against publicans http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/299983/Pubs-lose-fight-over-TV-soccer
Won't get anything free trade etc within the EU I thought this had already been ruled on and that was the case can see this going to the European court as Greece etc obviously already have the rights to show games.
