Hi, Spurs fan in peace here,

The Black cats just seem to keep on winning, and I dont see any sign you will start slipping up. So with the wins rolling on, you have been touted as outsiders for the last champions league spot.

So how high do you think Sunderland can finish this year? Personally I think champions league is out of reach for you but if you get top 7/8 and buy well in the summer, I think you could make serious challenge for it next year, I mean no one expected us to get 4th before 09/10, and the situation does look very similar.

A nice thought mate but, reckon we'll just miss out to either yourselves or Man City for that last CL place. I think after that man nearly crippled us at the start of the season as long as we finish around 10th that is fine for me.

Personally don't think we have the squad for a Champions league campaign, but under MON, who know's what we are capable of? at the minute we have massive injury problems and a couple more could see us really struggling to put a team out. That said, doesn't seem to matter what team MON puts out, they are performing for him.

A top 7 finish would be good to generate interest when the transfer window opens up again, plus the obvious financial gains but realistically i'd be happy with a top 8. Not saying we won't get top 7, i'd be happy with top 8 and anything else is a massive bonus.

I'm expecing between 8 and 10, anymore would be a bonus but most of us, I think, are looking to next year for a real push

We have 1 point less than we had at this stage last season. However, last season the next 9 games only yielded 4 points. Being a Sunderland fan and knowing how we can muck it up I would be happy with anything from 10th upwards.

It's remarkable that inside 2 months, we have gone from relegation candidates to this.

Thanks for the thoughts Spurs lad but we are nowhere near the top 4 at this moment in time and without a huge change of financial investment, we may never be that high up.

However, top 8 or 7th / 8th should be our top target now and a possibly a 50 plus points tally. That would be a incredible position for us to get to considering we had 11 points from 14 games before Marty came on board.

I think you lot are nailed on top 4 and maybe even 3rd but I still think Man Utd could sneak the title right at the death.

    Thanks for the shout though.

    Highly doubt it mate :(

However poor the other teams have been ('Pool & Chelsea) they will not drop the necessary points.

I'd be over the moon with 8th onwards with our horrible start to the season; top ten is really impressive as well after our horrible start

Anywhere in the top ten would be good 8th realisticaly and anything above that would be a bonus. Agood cup run would be good though.

Didn't know that scatty moo? Quite interesting to see the Mon finish to the season compared to Bruces last year with virtually the same players.

When you're in the bottom six and you lose to Wolves, lose to Wigan, and ten minutes from time you're losing at home to Blackburn, that's not a relegation candidate. Right at that moment, we looked racing certainties for relegation! You simply can't lose to teams like that and stay up. That's how close we came. So, for me, 17th or higher is a relief.

What I want this season is for a goodish bunch of players to get to know each other, get what happened before out of their heads, start to enjoy games, and to believe in themselves. I want MON to keep on using his brains, and then to sort out what staff he wants, sort out the Gyan and Riveros situations, and then buy in what he'd like and we can afford. I'd like a bit of luck for our many injured players, and, perhaps especially for Marcos Angeleri, who's now been out for longer than either Campbell or Meyler were. Surely to god if anyone deserves a bit of luck, it's that lad.

Next season? - Aim high and enjoy, simple as that. As Cest says, the big game for this club now on is being played by Niall Quinn and David Milliband. We can't plan further than what results they produce. Ach hell, it's just good to see Sunderland playing the way they should. I'm a happy man.

We were bottom 3 before Marty time.

We are challenging top 6 now.

    It's just incredible.
