I had switched off my laptop but just watched Blackpool away to Cardiff. 1-0 down then Kevin Phillips comes on as a sub and smacks a cracking volley for the equaliser. Then Matty scored another 2 to secure the points. I was cheering and clapping as if it was Wycombe gone in front. Ironically Cardiff had tried to sign him but Blackpool manager brushed it aside and said it was a very ambitious bid; if Matty goes anywhere it will be to one of the top 5 clubs in the Premier.

That would be good as WWFC would get something from that I believe. Described as the hottest property in the Championship.

    Well done Matty.

If you didn't see it worth watching last night's Football League Show on iPlayer - a lot of plaudits for Matty with Holloway saying that his next stop will be a top 6 Premier League club - which with the sell-on could mean some much needed cash for the club ... or for Sharky to trouser.

It is really good to see how far Philips has developed over the last 18 month and has moved from a hot prospect to an established player.

It shows what a fantastic attitude he has. Started the season as first choice at Blackpool then quickly went off form and found his chances limited. Holloway sent him on loan to Sheffield United and instead of sulking for being out of the team and shipped out on loan he took the opportunity with both hands and banged in loads of goals for them. He has gone back to Blackpool and just carried that on.

Somebody a while back mentioned he would have been better of staying with us for a while as he wasn't playing all the time but I think the success he had of being involved in over 20 prem games last year (at the age of 19-20) and this season is very demonstrable proof that leaving us was definitely the best thing for him!
