It's staggering to think how cheap Cabaye, Santon, Tiote and Ben Arfa were. How on earth did we sign those players for that price? What are they worth now!

hahahaha i diddnt spot that!! I wont edit it, it would spoil the fun.

    Bargain!!!!!!!!!!

Jokes aside what are views regarding our parsimonious spending?

I think its genius, no other team has bought so much quality for such low amounts.

Alan Smith doesnt count im talking about players bought in the last 2 years.

Also considering Obertans age and potential hes probs worth the 3.25 mil, also Perch looked better than 1mil today and other games recently, no question.

Honestly as harsh as we can be on Percy at times he is good value for £1mil. He has had to play out of position for the team most of the time and has taken a lot of slack when he's made mistakes during these periods but he always seems to give his all. He was very good today in the middle of the park as a defensive midfielder.

Alan Smith's contract was drawn up before the last two years I think, it will be nice to have that done completely in the Summer, although apparently he has been good at helping out with the U18s (expensive extra coach!)

Obertan has it in him, and looked better last couple, but we'll see how it goes. He has looked terrible in some games.

I'm pretty sure that Gosling cost nothing

Because they never formally offered him a new contract

Perch seems to be a fully competent cm these days. £1m isn't a waste

Would agree with Ober, fair do's he got age on his side and can improve but to have him a double the price of Routlage we could of signed other young prospects for that.

Perch, we signed him for the wrong position initially clearly. He's not amazing, but doesn't demand a starting place in the team and is adequate back up. There's not many players who we could sign for that. As long as he stays CM it's decent enough business. If you start spending 3-5m on back up players, when your barely European contenders. They'll only **** off for less money and your wasting even more.

Perchweinsteiger, Perch has been quality, well worth 1m... I'd rather see him than that ****e Alan Smith and his 50k a week in the team

Gosling and Marveaux looked like wasted pennies to me. Gosling looks crap and Marveaux looks to have a chronic groin problem. They are not "free". The same argument is put forward by the board that the likes of Demba and so on are not free becuase of significant agents fees etc. Works both ways.

Overall though we have been very frugal and done well.

Gosling started off as a RB and I have a feeling thats where his future may lie as he looks lost in the middle of the park. As for Marveaux, I don't think we have seen enough of him to make any judgement!!

I think Marveaux looks a classy player. I'm just pretty sure how quick his injury re-ocurred and the fact he had these rumours of failed medicals at Liverpool (experts no doubt on the groin region after their Gerrard troubles!), he is a perma crock. I hope I'm wrong but you'd have to say at this stage it does not look good. I don't mind as he was worth a punt. Gosling I'm not sure at all. He sees himself as a midfielder but he looks lost and painfully slow. He has an eye for a chance but that is about it. In terms of right back I just can't see him making it there, too slow. I'd bite the bullet with him in the summer. Even the best make mistakes, look at Fergie. The key is to know when to cut your losses.

There's plenty of places that say Cisse was £7.5m as well, not £10m.

Perch has earned his transfer fee this season. Except when he has been played in central defence, which he is 6" too short for, he has been entirely reliable. Yesterday he was excellent.

Obertan is beginning to find his feet. Give him a season
