I was walking through HMV in Durham yesterday in the sports section and I couldn't believe what I saw. Newcastle have released a dvd of their win over Manchester United at the Sports Direct arena this season. £10 and all. Cup final, derby victories ok but any old game, seriously? Fair do it was great result but a 10 quid dvd, come off it. I then saw the they had a dvd of their draw last season against Arsenal. Bonkers. Now I do wish we'd put out a season review dvd but I think putting individual games is pee take. Would anyone buy Chelsea 0 - 3 Sunderland 2010/2011 for a tenner?
Think it is a bit ridiculous tbh. But, then again we all know MA loves a quick buck, and there will be plenty of sad mags who will buy it, so why not? The arsenal one is fair enough tbh, it is literally the greatest comeback in premier league history.
i can remember when we were at roker park, cant remember which season exactly but you could get video's of the last match. My mate bought the west ham game when we beat them 4-3 and a certain liam brady had a stormer.
We used to sell doovde's in the club shop when they were taking over from VHS on the games. They were about £5 at the time, it was the promotion season under Mick Mack I think. Would never sell them in commercial shops though. No real demand for them, tell you what I'd love to have the option of publishing a DVD of us beating Man Utd 3-0.
Excellent point, that!! I think it's an age thing with this type of product. When I was a kid I bought literally anything to do with SAFC. **** knows how much of my parents' money I wasted!!
I was embarrassed by it to be honest and just sums up his love of a quick buck. I could understand when we thumped Man U 5-0 playing breathtaking football. But we beat them 3-0 using a specific tactical set up which involved playing direct. Not really our game but it worked against them. Pardew just copied Blackburns success the previous wednesday and admitted as much. Mind I'd be careful saying it sums up our club because I seem to recall a certain other club did this not so long ago............was it Arsenal? Everton, West Brom and others have too. I was surprised there was so many.
Funny enough you can buy a dvd of us beating Chelsea....no I wouldn't pay a tenner for it....just as well as they were asking more than that!
A lot of the fans on our board here were embarrassed about it, just Ashley making a quick buck but he knows there are a section of mugs who will buy it, same with any club.
