Proves how effective a sensible wage and transfer policy can be.

Oh and also a ****ing quality scouting system too!

this! Me included. Though in fairness; his transformation has been somewhat of a revelation in 2012.

He is only young and on a low wage, so additional fees shouldn't have been that huge.

England U21 international who Everton weren't happy to lose. We must have paid a fair whack. I don't mind he was worth a punt, he just doesn't look good enough. As I said earlier even the best get it wrong. Fergie signed David Bellion.

We didnt have to pay any compensation to Everton, so it was a small signing on fee, and very limited agent fees

No way of knowing though on the fee for Gosling, could easily have been significant due to age and national honours

Perch plays a few decent games so hes worth the money hes on and his fee?

How many games has he played badly in?

Dont get me wrong I like Perch, but hes ****e most of the time. When he has a bad few games everyone will be on his back again.

A case of giving a dog a bad name.

Far better to judge him on his most recent games.

How many games has he been played in his DM position? If you start playing Tiote at right back or centre back he's going to look sh*t.

I think Perch has played well 3 times this season so I must admit I'm not about to go overboard. I think he did well again on Saturday but to me he just doesn't look good enough to be in a PL squad. Just my opinion but hopefully he'll prove me wrong and prove decent back up Tiote. But he's only had a few good games (you can't really count him doing ok for 2mins at the end of games) and he would need to prove that over a sustained period to prove he is worth keeping on past the summer.

Brighton aside, the lad has been shockingly bad at centre back. He has had poor games in midfield too, and to be honest before recent weeks I'd struggle to think of many good games. I love that he is playing well and turning it worund but he has a long way to go.

You can say this but then you could also say Ben Arfa was money wasted as he had a chronic leg problem? He was out for a year and can't seem to force his way into the first XI. Marveaux is unlucky with injuries as i reckon he would force Jonas to move over to the right to battle with Obertan if he was fully fit this season.

Not knocking Benni as he's one of my favorite players, but just looking at this from a different view

Benni doesn't have a chronic problem though and has looked free of problems since returning. He just had an unfortuneate break due to some over zealous tackling. True enough he has struggled to break back in but he is very talented and I think he'll get there eventually. Marveaux to me looks a lovely footballer. But he had already missed 9 months due to a recurring groin problem when he joined us. That he failed medicals because of the problem, and subsequently broke down sharpish with the same problem not much later, then this would suggest his problem may be permanent. We'll have to see because we have sent him to the best for treatment. Fingers crossed because he'd be a welcome addition to our ranks, I'm just wary of players who keep getting the same injuries (Woodgate springs to mind!)
