I wouldn't be so sure, I'd rather have the bloke we nearly got than Bothroyd.

OLM you're like a bird who lets you have a snog and then bats your hand away when you try to take her top off, you tease! For your information, it was Higuain not Ronaldo we're after...!

Nick would certainly have a very realistic opinion of Folan, and unless he has forgotten all about him it's sef-evident he doesn't think he would improve things.

Cannot think who the (better than we have got) "mystery striker" is we are going for.....very intriguing.

OLM, are you any relation to Austin Powers? your very much a man of mystery! With Regards to Folan, I always remeber reading an article with Barmby about Folan and how he really rated him. I do believe he described him as a "rough diamond" (Or words close to that effect, a gem or any other precious stone would suffice) Its very promising that were looking at players above his quality though. For me I'd of been more than happy to see Hammill join us. I still think although where not scoring enough or current supply to strikers isnt good enough.

Hammill wasn't in Wolves squad on Saturday, not sure if that was out of choice or injury

It's all right being a rough diamond when you're 19, it's not so clever when you're 29, I think his ship has sailed.

yeah this is true although 29 isnt exactly passed it. As you have already said though, you'd hope for better now. Going by your previous comments id like to hazard a guess that the player we was after was Fraizer Campbell but due to Kevin Davies's move from Bolton to Sunderland not happening thats why we didnt get him.

    Pure conjecture obviously :D

Yeah but I'm guessing this move was made before he started scoring! And as you say was another reason Sunderland said no

I see one Daniel Cousin (starring at African Nations Cup) is a free agent and looking for a club.

if Bothroyd was a contender for Hull City, its not unrealistic or delunsional. but to think he is PL quality is.

Just checked his goal scoring record, was alot less prolific than I thought. I must just be remembering a purple patch when he was in premier league with West Ham. But hes strong fairly quick and can hold the ball up and could play out wide in a 433 if needed, just thought he fit the bill for alot of the things Barmby seems to want. Just a shame he has such a poor goal record. I do think we need another striker, but still have faith that Matty will go on a run after he nets one. Think we just have to accept he'll be prolific one minute and barren the next.

He was an underwhelming signing but has performed way better than anyone on here expected in the few games he's had, despite that people will still say he's crap just because of the name, a bit like how despite what he actually does, Fryatt is still a 'quality' player because of his name.

If he was actually injured they'd have made him come off and played with 10, it does happen. It was yet another mysterious 'leg injury' which he had far too many of in his time here. It was never a twisted knee or a muscle pull; just a vague leg injury. If a player misses 3 months at a time every time he takes what would be a slight knock for any other player, you can call him a fanny. Especially when you consider his 'attempts' at winning headers too.

It's dead exciting all this speculation about strikers, but every time we've got excited since before January about a target it hasn't come off for one reason or another, surely we deserve some luck with one of these deals at some point?
