EXCLUSIVE: Sacked Warnock chasing £1m contract pay-off from QPR By NEIL ASHTON Last updated at 10:32 PM on 6th February 2012 Comments (2) Share Neil Warnock will meet QPR chiefs on Tuesday in an attempt to resolve a bitter £1million pay dispute with the Barclays Premier League strugglers. Warnock is demanding that Rangers pay up the remainder of his contract after he was replaced by former Manchester City and Fulham boss Mark Hughes last month. He still had 18 months left on his deal and wants a settlement agreed as he contemplates a return to management. Warnock is still being paid by Rangers and cannot work again until his dispute has been resolved, but he will meet chief executive Philip Beard to thrash out terms. He was the lowest paid manager in the Premier League after taking Rangers back into the top flight last season. Incredibly, Warnock was still working on Championship money of £750,000 a year at the start of this campaign. He had been expected to sign a new £1.5m-a-year deal, but talks were delayed because of the club’s chaotic ownership situation. The former Sheffield United and Crystal Palace boss worked under three different owners in six months at Loftus Road after taking Rangers up. Warnock has won seven promotions during a colourful managerial career and is now considering his options. He has told friends he is enjoying his current media work, but also believes he has ‘one last challenge’ left as a manager.
**** me,after all the **** he put up with under the old regime and leading us back to the Premiership, you'd think this was the least they could give him!Give the man the money he's owed for cancelling his contract and be gratefull he's not asking for a hell of a lot more.I think being in the Prem is worth a bit more than £1 million, let's just hope we stay there.
Oh dear..PR machine winding up Pay him extra, thank him and offer him a lifelong season ticket to the club...at least.....a nighthood wouldn't go a miss either !!
Proud. Legend. Give the man what is due to him. He deserves it. What he did under the circumstances was amazing. Make him a Director at our club.
pay him what he is owed with the ammount of managers we have sacked and compensated why is this even being dragged through the media
Blimey Kerri, when you put it like that, it kinda puts it into perspective a bit more. I wonder how much they're giving Sparky?
Give it to him, at least it will be £1m the administrators won't get their grubby hands on Relax!! It's a joke for christ's sake!!
Talk about sensationalising a story. It's quite normal for an employer to wish to negotiate a settlement as paying him 18 months' money in one chunk is a big outlay. He should get what he's owed of course but the club are within their rights to offer it monthly, as if NW is on gardening leave. If he wants the whole lot up front then he should be willing to accept a bit less overall, that's quite normal.
Sir Neil should of negotiated a percentage cut of the Premiership payment should he get us promoted in his initial contract.
No reason why the club should pay him the full amount when hes now looking at another job, why should he get paid twice for the next 18 months? Either pay him the full amount and stipulate he cant work for the next 18 months or come to some arrangement if he wants to work again.
