I've been pretty much a nomad in my forty year career of following Rangers.
As a kid, I used to stand under the floodlight in the school end, ( S.Africa Rd corner.) ( 70's)
Then in the loft behind the goal in my teens. ( 80's)
Ellerslie Road (90s) and in the last 20 odd years the upper Loft.

Where do you prefer and why?

As a kid, I sat in south Africa road, f block. My dad liked the perfect view, but very quickly I wished we could sit/stand in the loft. I wanted to be where the noise was. I hate being in a crowd normally, but football and concerts are different. After much persuasion, I got the old man to give the upper loft a go. We had season tickets in p block for about 3 years and sat around a really good bunch of people. Brilliant time. The next season, and I can't remember why, we sat on the corner of p and q blocks and for that time, culminating in the Oldham game, I was the base drummer - I used to kick the barrier in front of me. Boom boom boom boom, olloways blue and White army.... Not a season ticket holder any more, due to financial/family reasons, but when I do go now, I'm a nomad like you nines. Best seats - either of the p block locations. Good thread man o fire.

Paddock for me. Been there since i was 17 years old and used to stand (Cracking atmosphere in those days of crushing) .
Now as i pay for 3 season tickets it's more a financial reason. Even though i like being right next to pitchside i still hate getting wet.

School end in the early sixties then in the kids paddocks at the Loft end, moved to the Loft proper in my teens and early 20s then Ellerslie road in my Forties and now B Block South Africa Road. i'm with the oldies now, they just like to moan and groan, but there all Rangers Fanatics, just to the left of grandad and his sombrero,it does take some stick but he loves it.

I started in the 70s behind the goal in the loft. I also alternated between South Africa Rd stand and Ellerslie Rd for the 80s & 90s. Couldn't go too often after that till the 2000s and I've been in Ellerslie Rd since. Currently season tickets in S Block. Good view and close enough to the singers and atmosphere.

Started in the 70's in South Africa Road, 80's/90's mix between Loft and Paddock, since then Ellerslie Road.
Currently in X block for the banter with the away fans, but seem to be over run with tourists this season !

    On my ar*e!!

Used to watch from behind the goal at the Loft end back in the late 70's, I was just about big enough to see over the wall.

Paddock for years so I could watch Wayne Fereday close up! Moved to standing in the Loft for many years, then sitting in lower loft and now tend to be Pu with occassional foray back into the Lower Loft.

R block is my favourite. This season I didn't get a ST because I thought I wouldn't be in the country for all of 2011. It turned out that I was but I wasn't to know at the time.

I used to be in R block, row Q. I often try to get tickets around that area but I'll sit anywhere on Ellerslie, really.

I have to stand as both of my legs are made of mahogany I have had a hinge placed on the left one as I am very keen on doing Jethro Tull impressions. Last Week I was in the Wolves end as went with a mate (i was the one jumping up when we scored). I grab seats as and when but I love Z5/Z6 so do my boys as we can give Barton abuse at corners.

The song that makes him smile is: Bigmouth strikes again

Sweetness, sweetness I was only joking
When I said I'd like to smash every tooth
    In your head

Oh ... sweetness, sweetness, I was only joking
When I said by rights you should be
    Bludgeoned in your bed

And now I know how Joan of Arc felt
Now I know how Joan of Arc felt
As the flames rose to her roman nose
And her Walkman started to melt
    Oh ...

Bigmouth, la ... bigmouth, la ...
    Bigmouth strikes again
And your've got no right to take your place
    With the Human race

Personally DT I prefer the lesser known smiths tunes -

'there is a pass that never goes out' & 'you're the one for me olly'

As a kid it was always SA road with my dad & uncle dickie. A few years in HK curtailed my attendances but on my return it was the loft. Nowadays it's a nomadic existence usually involving the away ends in Doncaster or Barnsley

When my Dad used to take me albeit rarely we used to always go front row and for kids im sure that's the best. You get to see the players up close and its just exciting.

Then got my first season ticket in West Paddock first row next to a guy called Bob Bull (never laughed so much when he said the ball had hit a bobble) but like many others I wanted to move where the noise was so I moved to R Block and have been there since. Right next to Q Block so its not the greatest view but in my opinion its the view football should be viewed by.

    Great thread 999.

Loved the terraces at the Loft end as a young man. Packed them in for big matches and what an atmosphere. Went intermittently in the 80's but took up a season ticket in South Africa Road in early 90's (just before we were kicked out of the first tier). In about 2003, made the move to Ellerslie S and love it. Agree with Col, good views (apart from that f*cking column) and great to feel close to the pitch and the players and the lads up in the corner.

Only ever sat in South Africa Road stand twice - on first visit, 3-0 win over Cardiff, 72 ( got me hooked but sun got in our eyes as they were building Ellerslie Road stand at the time) and a couple of years ago, pre season game v Birmingham, when Ellerslie Road was closed. For rest of seventies in Ellerslie Road stand with season ticket - see signature. Think that Entrance L equates to R or P Block now. In 80s when I was in the country stood in the Loft, Sat in lower Loft for the 6-0 v Palace, since then wherever I can get a ticket, but rather like the top of X block in Ellerslie. Sure they have reduced leg room over the years as well as capacity.....

Have had season tickets for the past 5 seasons and have always been in the lower loft.

Started in block NL but got fed up of getting up and down, so now sit in the ML block (the removable one) which is only 4 seats wide! We have a complete row there. Its good for making a bit of noise as it is made of metal! I do try to get some noise going during games!

Let me know if a whole row leaves! Im in kl and we have 3 piss heads who come in 10 mins late and go to the toilet before coming in so they arrive at difference times, then they leave 10 mins early at HT...separately but within 15 seconds of each other. Then come back 15 mins late...separately. Then need a 2nd half piss at some point. Im up and down more than a tarts knickers!
