Agreed that we need cover in midfield but I don't see why Barton is the only one who can provide it:
We all seem to have already forgotten about Buzsaky's return to form and while he is not a natural tackler it's hard to see how he can be any less effective than JB on recent form.
Derry continues to do a solid job in front of the back four.
Mackie can be used just about anywhere on the pitch to chase and tackle.
Smith remains an underused asset IMO
    Diakite will be available soon
SWP is effective when use in his natural position
Traore would be great in a more forward role

Any combination of these would be a better option than playing Barton. This is not just for the 'poison' (although that is a factor) but simply because he is making so many mistakes and costing us games.

It looks like I think Barton is doing a better job on the pitch than you do! Buz did great against Wigan, but I believe he is injured still, I'd prefer him to Derry alongside Barton if/when he's back, and Diakite will of course be another option. Derry works hard but he looks very slow. For me Mackie, SWP, Smith, and Traore are not CM's.
