Never mind age, I'm wondering how long he has been a saints/football fan. He clearly hasnt been a saints fan for very long at all if he can mock other teams for facing a relegation scrap.
I don't really care how old you are, but the fact the first match you remember was in 2002 explains a lot (about this and your motor sport knowledge....). That's fine. We were all young once, and learnt, then got all grumpy!
Either way, you're perfectly entitled to your opinion, regardless of whether you're 10 or 80. Bating other fans is a bit daft though and belies maturity.
Well I'm pleased to say you seem to have done that for me. Either way, it's good to get your opinion on whatever it might be, just try not to be silly!
I keep wondering how we lost that game, then I realise that we defended like amateurs. Basics like marking your man/following him into the box and not letting a player cut inside onto his strongest foot! Millwall were allowed to whip good balls into the box every time they got the ball out wide, so it was inevitable that one ball would result in a goal. For N'Guessan too, a poor player. Judging by Nigel's reaction yesterday, he would have kicked the players up the arse in the dressing room/during the de-brief today which should hopefully snap them into gear again. Absolute froze last night for nothing.
Our midfield was non existent for large parts last night but we will have our strongest available eleven out against Burnley. miserable as I was last night I still believe we have a good team.
The common theme is standing off teams and letting them pass around us. In any game of football you have to win the midfield battle. We don't start doing this until the second half of recent games. The only few wanting to win that battle currently from what I have seen is puncheon and spider. We need to snap at teams heels and not try and play cagey footy in our league. It won't work. Looking at chappers last night I don't think he will be snapping for few weeks yet. As they say f@&k em up, get into them....let's do the ugly things that will allow us to play how we/NA want. COYR
Just seen the highlights on Player. The only positives seem to be that Lallana is back in form and Chappers got a start. I will be there against Burnley and we will be back almost to full strength. I obviously want to see a performance but it's the points that matter more. With all the big guns back we should win....right?
I do worry that half the problem at the moment is that we haven't established our strongest team with this 'new' batch of players that have either come back from injury/loan or are new signings. That means that, along with the cup games, we've rotated which may not necessarily be a good thing. Saturday will be a similar situation, as, despite being our strongest side on paper, will not have played together for very long, especially on Tuesday/Saturday. Cork and Schneiderlin will be nicely rested. I hope for Puncheon on one wing, Lallana on the other and Lambert & Sharp up front. Jos to partner Jose at the back again and Fox back in at LB.
Just watched the extended highlights on Player and yes the 3rd goal, the free kick ball was definitley rolling, but the cameras didn't pick up on the offside, whatever, Millwall won by cheating, who says they never prosper?
In what way did Millwall cheat Don?, scoring a goal when the flag doesn't go up isn't cheating and the ball was not moving.
Watch it again Don, when Kane took the free kick he put the ball on the ground and then took the kick, the ball couldn't had moved more than an inch before he took the kick, whether Feeney was offside was down to the linesman, but its clear to everyone that when he fired the spectacular winning goal he had a defender infront of him, so whatever advantage he may of had to begin with was corrected. Saying that he was already running as the free-kick was taken so may had been onside when the kick was taken. The best way to get over this is for you to beat West Ham next week very convincingly
To be fair we didn't do enough to win...but as far as the 3rd goal was concerned when your guy started running he was maybe 2/3 strides ahead of our back line where the linesman was. Your guy didn't start running immediately there was a short delay from the linesman prospective he would have looked across the line and seen it level as he was behind play. It's one of those ....some you win some you lose. However can take nothing away from the guy. It was from his point of view a good goal!!
Think about it...Lambert scores a winning goal off his arm which is given..do you honestly think he would own up. If he did, Nigel would hold him down so Cortese could kick him.
