I think, as this site has proved in recent times, when certain issues arise we can all rise above our rivalries and present a united front...However, when it comes to footballing matters alone, I would be happy to see the Mags lose every game...

I'm going to enjoy the game at the Sports Direct Arena much more this year given we are both doing really well. I think it'll make it a little bit more of a friendly atmosphere, not in the ground but in the pubs around the area's which are split like Hebburn, Jarrow, South Shields. For once it'll be comforting that even if we lose we'll be back for more next year barring a collapse only performed by the financial market circa 2008.

Don't mind Newcastle doing well at all as long as we are doing better, this year I'm happy we've turned our club around and I can't knock the Barcodes on their season either.

I can't be all nice to the Cockney Mafia though so I hope we stuff them in 3 weeks.

Like it or not Football is always more interesting when we are in the same league as Newcastle. I suppose you could include Boro to, but no where near the same extent.
I'd like nothing more than all three in the top half of the Prem...
Get your bloody finger out Boro, Your letting the NE down.

Same view as this really, apart from it would be the other way around, it is more interesting when Sunderland are in the same league as us. The anticipation of both derbies, the fixture list comes out and its the first one (two) fixtures we all look at.

I applaud Sunderland and Martin O'Neill for how they are doing at the moment, however, I would always like to to finish higher. Next season, Newcastle 1st, Sunderland 2nd would please me!

I don't know if you live in the borough of S. Tyneside, I do, and I know what you mean about the pubs, sometimes if we want to go to watch a match we have to consider if it's a Mags or Mackem pub, a bit weird at times, my local caters for both, but on Derby days, no football tops whatsoever. Happy to say it works well. <cheers>

What would you say the split was between B&W's and R&W's?

When I used to visit Shields in the 70's, in the days of scarves, before the replica shirts, I used to tell me mates that I couldn't believe how many Fulham supporters there were about.
