08/02/2012 by David McIntyre Clint Hill accepts he will leave QPR at the end of the season after being told he will not be given a new contract. The defender, whose current deal expires in the summer, had hoped to extend his stay at Loftus Road. But Neil Warnock twice failed to convince the clubâs hierarchy to offer Hill a contract prior to his sacking as Rangers manager and the player has since been nudged down the pecking order by the signing of Taye Taiwo. Hughes was keen to sign a left-back. He was recently included in boss Mark Hughesâ 25-man Premier League squad but his first-team chances look slim, so Hill is preparing to move on. âI think when you get knocked back for a new contract like that you pretty much know where you stand,â he told West London Sport. âIâll give my all if Iâm called upon and then will hopefully get fixed up at the end of the season.â Hill, 33, went on loan to Nottingham Forest when he was out of the QPR side earlier in the campaign. But Hughes has indicated that he is reluctant to allow his fringe players to go elsewhere between now and May. âI can completely see where heâs coming from. A manager in his position will often want to call upon an experienced player if he needs to,â said Hill. âThe managerâs spoken to me and has been top class. I just think the clubâs now heading in a different direction.â
I like the fact that MH actually talks to all his players and tells them what is going on and doesn't keep them in the dark unlike Warnock did. No disrespect to Warnock.
I think maybe quite a few of us on here would expect him to follow NW onto his next club anyway. Good, loyal dependable pro - hope he finds a good club next season
Not sure if "loyal" is a word which applies to many footballers now Ninj, except perhaps Gerrard, Giggs and Scholes. Clint, who I agree is a very solid character and who has done a good job for us within the range of his talents, has had 5 clubs in 14 years, not counting Forest. Good luck to him, and I am sure he will get another game or two this season.
Thought his lack of pace would prevent him stepping up in the Premiership, but when called upon he's done a solid job At his age he doesn't need to be hanging around waiting for Taiwo/Traore to give him a look in, he needs a club where he's nailed on - where's NW's next post ?
Good pro and agree with old hoop that he has a done a solid job in the Premiership. His role in getting us promoted last season will always make him a QPR hero.
What epitomisis Clint Hill for me, is the manor in which when recalled from Forest and played in the history making game v Chelsea. Also the two crucial goals he scored against Ipswich last season. Good solid pro.
not the best player in the world, but always gave his all for QPR got to respect him for that.... Good luck Clint, thank you for your efforts and hope you finish with a decent club that looks after you... Q.
