Carroll has started to hold the ball up really well, but even better have been his flick-ons and knock-downs. When our other attackers really start to click with him and start getting on the end of those all the time Carroll is going to get quite a few assists I think. He looks much sharper and just generally is starting to look like part of the team, as if before he had never played with these guys. At the end of the day Spurs are tough side and came to play for a draw so there's no disgrace in last night's result, and i thought the fact that we played possession football in the Spurs half for some prolonged periods yet also played the long ball to Carroll showed that we're starting to develop different attacking dimensions. There's no danger we're going to become a long ball team, but i think Carroll is going to come into his own (as he actually has been already) in some tough away games and Cup games where we need to relieve opposition pressure. With regards the 'moaning' i really don't mind it. It's not much different from what Bellamy does (when it comes to other teammates) and it's almost as if Andy has taken some inspiration from Bellers when it comes to aggression and workrate, which is great. Carroll needs to be fired up in order to play at his best, and the fact he cared so passionately throughout the whole game is the reason he was still beating Dawson in the air even in the last few minutes, so quite frankly i want angry Andy Carroll and it looks like he does too. I remember the particular incident when he stopped during play and that wasn't the best, but to be fair he was blatantly blocked off and would never have gotten there anyway.
I can't believe that the lad is still getting stick, albeit from rival fans mostly. Let's be honest, in general the service to him has been dire. I'm not surprised he's letting his team mates know what he thinks when they spoon it in at knee height to him from great positions... He is what he is, he wins virtually everything in the air, has had a run of games and it's showing in his fitness (like all big fella's, it's not on tap)....His general hold up play has improved dramatically the last few games; does anybody remember his England debut (vs Italy I think??), he was the best England player on show. We bought him for the future, he may never be a £35m man but given the right service and a small improvement in his recent form and he may yet be worth more! Only time will tell.
I'm happy to be reading positive posts about the lad which makes a great change, let's hope he puts in another good shift against United
as usual you cant debate...your back against the wall attitude just because someone supports another team..what a muppet....standing up for yourself is a bit diffrent to having a moan because you cant hold the ball up yourself..however this has been discussed by posters already so i wont go there...you pal are extremely insecure and touchy.....dont blame me poor kunt
He looks like he wants to play now, and that's the crucial difference. If the will is there, the rest of it can fall into place. Perhaps Bellers can give him some advice on the whining business?
Not going to lie, he's getting back to how he used to play for us. Bit gutted if I'm honest! But in all serious, some of the crosses I've seen whipped into him are shocking. Even if I was playing against the local oap pub team I'd have trouble scoring if every cross seems to be aimed at my crotch.
Other players are starting to learn to run off him when he wins headers, I always thought this was obvious but nobody was doing it.
It's strange because we do actually work ourselfs in to great crossing positions, unfortunately the players who are in them positions are usually Downing/Kuyt, who I'm afraid to say can't cross for toffee! It's so frustrating watching Downing, he has bags of ability and the potential to be a top-class winger but 9/10 he passes backwards or doesn't take on his man.
the post you replied to was not intended for debate ..as for it being a pile of crap that is probably your civilised,as civilised as they come from your part of the country, way of saying you disagree
