West London Sport QPR assess strike trio

    09/02/2012
    by West London Sport

QPR are assessing the fitness of forwards Heidar Helguson, DJ Campbell and Jay Bothroyd today.

Rangers are hopeful that Helguson will be available for Saturday’s game at Blackburn following a groin problem, which would a timely boost for them given that Djibril Cisse is suspended.

Manager Mark Hughes is hoping Bothroyd and Campbell, who have had hamstring problems, will also be able to join the squad.

Hughes should have a clearer idea by this afternoon whether the trio are likely to be fit in time for the match against his former club.

From QPR FC @OfficialQPR at twitter:

MH: ‘Cisse is obviously suspended. Campbell, Helguson and Young are out too. We’re hoping Bothroyd and Gabbidon will be okay’
MH: ‘There’s a few coming back that we have to check on tomorrow, like Buzsaky. Apart from the long-term ones, that’s about it’
MH: ‘The mood’s improved after the weekend. After the game I was actually quite positive’
MH: ‘In terms of what we can produce going forward, we’ve improved markedly’
MH: ‘I’m looking forward to the weekend. We know what we’ve got to do’
MH: ‘We’ve got to win as many games as possible. That’s what we’re focused on’
MH: ‘I’m still getting an understanding of what I’m working with. It’s never easy when you come in during January’
MH: ‘We can create chances and now we’ve got guys who can convert them too’
MH: ‘You can look back on spilt milk but you’ve got to look ahead to the games in front of you’
MH: ‘We’ve got to try and take points off teams in and around us’
MH (on Samba Diakite): ‘We’re going away next week and hopefully he‘ll be able to join us’

Suppose Gabbi will play CB and Onouha RB then. And hopefully Adel in a free role round Zamora, and not Betty!

Agreed. With Cisse suspended and Helguson and DJ both out injured I've changed my mind, and I reckon now is the perfect time to tryout Taarabt as a striker! <ok>

This has been mentioned in legends of the past ... How long does he want? I am afraid as a goal scorer he may make a better washer upper in terms of plates ... Would you trust him in your kitchen?
