He is not arrogant he has done a fantastic job at Newcastle and deserves to be linked with the England job.
Your right if he keeps improving Newcastle FC & wins trophy's with them then he will be a great future England manager but I don't think he is ready yet. I would be happy with Harry in charge if we could god dam win something lol!
I'm not saying he should be the next England manager, just saying he deserves to be linked to the job
I'd disagree. He's had a good first half of a season... just like Ian Holloway did with Blackpool and Phil Brown did with Hull. It doesn't make someone of International quality. I get annoyed with 2nd rate people being linked with England after some short lived success. This isn't just managers, but players also; Michael Rickets and Steve Guppy to name a couple!
He managed Newcastle to a 3-0 win over Man Utd and they have played 24 out of 38 games and are 5th in the league - thats more like 3/4 of the season
Ok, 3/4 of the way through the season! My bad; on reflection I now would be amazingly happy if he was given the England job as he's right up there with the likes of Redknapp, O'Neil and Mourinho?! Doh!
Can't you read! I have never said he should be England manager, just that he deserves to be linked to the job.
Can't you read; I didn't say you did? If you're linked with a job then you're deemed worthy of getting said job. I don't feel he's worthy of either being linked with, or getting the job after just 3/4 of a season!
Nothing arrogant about it at all. A very, very capable manager, who would probably second or third in line if the FA insisted on an English manager.
Because I know lots of Arsenal fans and they would like to be shot of Wenger I think he should be offered the England job. It would keep him away from Marchwood for a start.
Also I don't care what anyone says, ruling yourself out of a job that you haven't even been officially considered for is arrogant... fact. Who's going to rule themselves out next; Cotterill, Branfoot, Woodward maybe?!
I think you'll find he was asked by a reporter on the matter. I was listening to Radio 5 Live, today and there were several people who said Pardew would be a worthy English candidate if Redknapp decided to stay with Spurs. So he was probably just answering a question.
Why on earth not? Harry Redknapp manages a team who are arguably a better team than England. There are currently only two managers in the entire country, of any nationality, performing better than him - one is arguably the best football manager of all time; the other manages the most expensively constructed team of world beaters of all time. Massively inflated view of our national team we have - we're like the national equivalent of Villa at best. Capable of beating anyone on a good day, good bet for half a tournament run - but those good days come about once a season. The world's top managers wouldn't actually be that interested in the job if it wasn't for the massive salary it pays - and some not even then.
Just be grateful the days of Big Sam being considered are over! Though actually, interesting question - would you take four barren England years of Big Sam at the helm of the national side as a destabilising mechanism for West Ham that resulted in us getting promoted this season?
