This is quite possibly the strangest post that I have or will ever post. Please forgive me! I found it strange at the time of Markus Liebherr's death that the cause of death was never mentioned. As far as I am aware nothing has ever been said about it. Until now. I was looking through the highly respected Wiki and found this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markus_Liebherr Heart Attack!! My thinking is that if he knew he was on his way out.He would have made provision for the club. If it was a unexpected he may not have had a plan in place for the club. Which would 100% rely on the support of his family towards the club. Any thoughts?
NC actually did say something about this not long after his death. In that ML had left some sort of provision to fund the club to take it forward to continue and progress. The family have since said through NC that they fully respect ML wishes and will continue to support the club as ML wanted.
He always looked ill, so I reckon it was a long battle with illness persnally, especially if he made provisions for after his death as if he knew it was happening
We don't have any right to be informed about cause of death. He looked unwell when he took us over, but obviously he could have no idea of timing or he would never have embarked on owning a football club. I'm quite sure that plans are in place for most businesses if their owner should die. I'm wondering what will happen to Forest as apparently their owner was putting in a million a month!! to support them.
Doughty left enough money to keep Forest going for two years apparently. Personally think ML knew he didn't have much time left when he took us over. Last ambition to own a football club perhaps?
Yeah I thought it was something to do with his liver as well. It's a common occurrence that a heart attack is the final blow in a sort of domino effect of organ failures. A similar thing happened to my grandmother. His skin was awfully yellow, and that is a telling sign of liver disease.
Think Markus was looking for something different almost as a hobby, but don't think he was interested in football before buying Saints. We were just lucky.
Well, when you have someone as sharp and persuasive as Cortese out there handling Markus's money, you have a very good chance of being bought as a bargain. I'd like to think it wasn't luck. More like good timing.
