I knew we would be strong in the championship this season but was not expecting the start we had. I was just hoping not to get relegated back to league one so I'm happy because we achieved that this season. Any more is a bonus. We have to go for every game to win! nothing to lose we might get lucky!
I said playoffs, but I think I also did mention that it would not be much of a surprise to me if we went straight through the league. I know we all wanted to be cautious and not get our hopes too high, but it was always hard to deny that we definitely had a squad capable of winning this league.
Think I predicted middle or just below (with play-offs an unlikely possibility) but I clearly said on several occasions that we would not finish below Portsmouth. Knew (even before new signings) that our team was better than many other Championship sides.
Mid table I thought. I knew Rickie would do great in this league but I wasn't so sure about many of our players. Richardson in particular has really flourished and been great for us as well as Chaplow when he was fit. I was certainly worried about the defence but Hoovield came in, was a great signing he really sured things up. Sadly I think the one thing that has hurt us and the only real mistake we made was selling Chamberlain, our lack of pace and impact player with end product is a worry and Chamberlain would have been perfcet if we'd managed to keep him
I was a bit negative and predicted 13th, never expected us to overperform for so long, but no regrets, apart from nearly freezing to death last night, I have enjoyed most of it. I now hope to see the play-offs at least, but I don't consider us quite fit for a sustained term in the Premier.
I would of taken anything around mid table. I Think we will end up in the play offs though and play Cardiff in the final.
Second!! Saints were from day one and are now as good as any team in that division. Now they just need to start believing in themselves again. Hopefully the purchase of Billy Sharp will propel them forward again.
Even before the season started I wanted and believed we should be getting minimum of 6th. That opinion still stands. Maybe because promotion from league one meant I was only thinking about success, because we had such a successful period in the lead up to the champship.
I didn't have a clue but I expected every player to be prepared to die for the cause and to go out to win every game by playing at their very best individually and as a team. I expected them to show intelligence, variety, ingenuity and passion and not let themselves be outplayed by teams being beaten by everyone else. When you join a competition you are in it to win it. If you aren't then don't bother.
I was hoping for around 10/12th. But as long as we finish anywhere above Pompey I'll be a happy bunny!
