Arsenal didn't spend money before but we won doubles and went seasons undefeated <doh>

To add to something else you said about getting 2 quality players in ... we sold 2 in the summer :( but they didn't make us win things either.

Whilst I believe Sturridge would be a great aquisition (and he would), this smacks to me of a clever tactic to make sure he gets the best possible offer from Chelsea. Only 2 years left on his deal + clearly a talent + "oooh I'm not the happiest little squirrel in the world" = Chelsea offering a bumper payrise.

Naturally I could be doing him an injustice and he really could want to leave/will do and, should it be to us then hoooo-ray.

Right on the nose again Drogs. best striker on £50,000, playing very well and happy. Along comes Cahill on £75,000/ £80,000, striker spits the dummy and sulks. He just wants and deserves a pay rise. Crazy but true.

Don't see it happening. Sturridge is unhappy because he's not playing in the position he prefers(CF), not because he's not being paid enough.

While RVP is still at Arsenal, Sturridge will remain at Chelsea.

On top of that, the way Torres and Drogba have been scoring recently, I see AVB giving the lad a chance to play up front. He's got the greed, the pace, and the ability to score. What he doesn't have, is the manager's consent.

But thats whats sooo wrong with Chelsea..... the amount we spend on transfer and wages is a complete embaressment. Cahill is not worth £75k a week... hes a SQUAD player not even first team. Studge to be paid £50k a week at 22...... He will turn into another Anelka the way hes heading with money if thats the route he takes (as in the sulk and i want more more more)

I would not play Studge down the middle over Lukaku. He looks like a beast and hes quick, as much as sturridge is down right awesome, he does not hold it up very well, his strength is controlling it and running with it. Kind of important for the striker playing down the middle imo?

This is true, but with RVP playing the way he is, if you had cesc to control/calm things in midfield you would be sitting in a much prettier position... but did arsenal ever replace the big names? Cesc, Viera, Pires, Overmars and players along those lines. I like the idea of using the youth, just takes time to reach the quality of those players. (im not an arsenal fan just an observation and i may be very wrong)

To be fair, because of all the investment criticism over the years Chelsea are trying hard to behave like a proper club/business these days, trouble is you have Terry and probably others on £160k a week so there will always be this disparity between talented players.
Terry is not three times the player Sturridge is but that's what their contracts say.
Arsenal were in the same boat (on a lesser scale) with the likes of Denilson and Bendtner on £50k a week - but like I've said before, since the Bosnan ruling managers have to take flyers on how good a player will be, they can't afford to watch a talent develop then reward him with a serious contract because someone will always come in with a lottery win offer for him when he's out of contract, case in point Flamini.
Managers are forced to offer long contracts and pay decent money for average players and every now and then they get it wrong which results in good players being underpaid and average players being overpaid, I doubt Arsenal and Chelsea are the only ones in this position...

Couldnt agree more.. But its just a lose lose, no player will accept a straight forward contract extension. So by the time Studge is 25 he will be hitting 80-100k a week as contracts get extended every 2 or so years when a play plays well... Thats why i want Drogba to go, i love him and he is world class but if chelsea cave in to the pressure of a contract extension and more money.. somoene needs shooting in the face.

Blue Army - Chelsea are known for paying extortionate wages, it was Chelsea money that transformed the landscape 15 years ago (bizarrly enough not Abramovic money but the deals that took Gullit and Vialli to the Bridge - I had good inside info at the time), but a player of Sturridges quality doesn't have to accept £80k a week as there'll be a long line of other rich clubs who'll pay him £150k or £200k or more - whatever Arsenal can pay Chelsea will beat, whatever Chelsea offer Man City can trump, it's the way it is and depends entirely on the players mindset/attitude - are you happy being a Shevchenko and becoming a multi-millionnaire benchwarmer or do you wnat to play the game, better yourself and become world class ?
I put Sturridge in the latter but I don't know the lad.

I was merely trying to point out my displeasure at Chelseas spending habbits. What you say is 100% correct, doesnt mean as a chelsea fan i like it.. if Chelsea carry on doing what they do, the club would probably implode, there needs to be proper structure. Like Arsenal and (hate to say it) Tottenham.... but is it possible to have that and still be a club that (normally) competes on all 3 fronts or does it mean we would have to sit somewhere between mediocre and decent?

Good post, you'd probably have to sit somewhere near where Arsenal are, whether you see that as mediocre or half decent is debatable but no you wouldn't dominate enjoy the same level of success you have over the years.
Refreshing to hear you views too

Arsenal are a team so close to being great, but always a player or two short for me (which is why i think they arent mediocre but not up to the top 3 standard) and thanks, i enjoy arsenals style of play and the fact that their fans can look beyond their club and see how things really are. Arsenal will if they continue the way they are (imo) be a very good team with the FFP restrictions (Need to keep RVP though)

As i know D.S and i know he is not happy playing on the wing, he wants to play as a striker so he could play for arsenal as a striker, I will ask next time i see him, I apologise for name dropping

    Fair enough.

Does anyone in here know Messi ? If you do can you ask him if there's any chance of a 3-way on his missus ?

Your double winning squad cost around £60 mil. No sorry, of course, not like you actually bought those players or anything. You won the double of free transfers!

Don't pretend Arsenal won the double through home grown players. Most of them came from somewhere.

On topic, Arsenal would never get Sturridge. End of. Why would he want to go to a club to play central striker when that club has the best central striker in the world? Moronic reporting. He may not be content with the wide role, but its a lot better than being on the bench and he knows that.
