Someone has already mentioned this in passing on another thread but I think it should be mentioned in its own right.

Giggs signs another years extension to keep him at the club for his 22nd year. Very impressive but I wonder is this not a year too much?

When you've got no other good players in midfield and no Champions League money coming in, you have no choice.

Giggs is still a Prem player...at the mo

Utd do have other good players at the moment in midfield however they are not world beaters IMO. By the way. I wouldn't stress too much over the CL money and have a look at the Deloitte figures again.

They are for last year (10.11).

The lack of CL cash will hurt next year.

The Glazers are not going to cover the loss; so no Sneijder etc.

Sneijder will not come anyway to OT. Do not think for one moment even if the Glazers were gone would the board sanction the massive wages the likes of Sneijder will demand. The wages could be paid no question. Just do not believe the board would sanction it.

To be honest, United stopped competing for the best players for years now.

The best players go to Real Barca and City now.

Roon was right: United are out of the picture for the best

We are a team in decline, we have been for the last 20 years.
Still the Championship is a good league for us after SAF retires

Yawn. You post that to everything.

United still the best team in UK; just falling further behind Barca and Real.

    And City catching up.

Do not see how in the long term City can continue to buy players and pay them huge salaries. Even Chelsea slowed down the mad spending and dream of being self sufficient though it is proving hard to come by. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2094476/Chelsea-post-68m-losses.html

    Probably.

But City will probably win a few trophies in the process before United resume normal service.

SAF tried to step up to the Spaniards in Europe and failed.

Gave it a very good go though: winning one Cup in 12 attempts admittedly v another English club. His overspending in the early 00s could not see United conquer Real Porto etc

Overspending? SAF spent from 2003-2011 £317,250,000 and sold £229,950,000 worth of players. That equates to a net spend of £87,300,000 or £10,912,500 per season. Thats still behind Spurs, Liverpool, City and Chelsea. Can you tell me about this overspend?

will Giggs go into management after playing?
will Giggs become a pundit after playing?
Will Giggs take up an ambassador Role at United after playing?

None of the above......Giggs is going to continue playing until they give him his bus pass. As a rival fan, I cant argue with Giggs getting a new contract as he is still top quality. For a player who started at the top level so young, it is amazing he is still going. Owen started at the same age as Giggs, but has been crocked since his mid twenties.......Must drink lots of Milk!!

<laugh> It is incredible that Giggs is still functioning so well after all these seasons. Just wish we could see Pogba be given a chance.

We've never competed for the best players, we've always made them. Keane, Cantona, Beckham, Scholes, Giggs, Rooney, Vidic, Evra, Rio, Ronaldo, Nani, Schmeichel - none of them were considered to be amongst the best in the world until they came to Utd. We've only ever gone in for players who are recognisably the best in the world on a few occasions - Shearer, Veron and VDS are the only real examples I can think of under SAF (maybe Hughes when we bought him back from Barca). Of those, one was only willing to join his hometown club, one was an unmitigated disaster and one of them only cost £1 million, so it's hardly a track record.

Thee real problem SAF has getting players right now is that scouting networks have gotten so large in recent years it's almost impossible to find a player like Schmeichel, Vidic, Evra, Irwin, Beckham, Scholes, Giggs or Ronaldo without every other bugger in the world finding out about them and pushing the price up. Just look at Jones - Liverpool were willing to bid £22 million for him! That's as much as they paid for Suarez! Not the greatest environment for a manager whose greatest transfer successes have come from spotting relatively young and low profile players and turning them into greats...

It's been rumoured, but denied by the club and Pogba has made no indications he wants to leave. He's very likely to be in the squad come Saturday, which would never happen if he was actively asking and intending to leave. If SAF was willing to drop Rooney whilst he claimed to want to leave, he wouldn't hesitate to drop Pogba.

Ryan Giggs, Ryan Giggs, Ryan Giggs !

Ryan Giggs proved he still has it against Chelsea.. he was great against Chelsea, he was the heart of our comeback.

Ryan Giggs the best player in the premier League, there won't be any player like Ryan Giggs..... what ever bitter comments our rivals say we don't care, Ryan Giggs has been praised by many other football professionals and pundits, i believe what they say then our bitter rivals fans say, they are just bitter that Ryan Giggs is still going strong and still destroying teams.
