Well I'm not confident either. I'd take a draw now but since MON came in we've had a habit of pulling things out of the bag. We were poor against Boro & I was praying for a substitution which never came but MON pulled it off again.
Remember the Arsenal wannabe's, Swansea.....that didn't go haywire till after the match. Arsenal they most certainly not....a poor man's version.
We've been doing well scoring late-latish goals, I've a feeling this won't happen and there'll be some tired Sunderland legs out there. Next week our worthy opponents travel to Italy which ought to level the playing field over the 2 games. Form what I've read, most here won't mind losing if we get into the last 8 of the FA Cup. There again, O'Neil has proven to be a master tacticianer and given the last 13 games, it wouldn't surprise anyone if we did win. Were it not for the midweek game I'd fancy a Sunderland win, but because of it I'd be more than happy with a draw.
Well actually I do not think the Arsenal defence is that good nor is there midfield particularly defensive ,so yes I think we can score against them. Especially as they will probably have most of the possession and we can use our speed to counter attack. I think the problem for us is stopping RvP who is as they say 'on fire' atm, also Oxo and Walcott are looking good. If we can get two goals and limit them to one we will do very well. I actually think we have a better chance in the Cup game next week, as several of our players are knackered after the 120 mins at Boro, but next week the Gooners will have played a CL game in europe. This week they are fresh next week we will be.
First goal more than ever will be important. Good test for both teams. Draw is more than likely. But Sunderland have the players to test Arenal's defence, just as they have the players to test ours. How will Oxo and Walcott cope when McLean is running at their back four. How will Ricco cope? Can't wait for the match should be great, I hope. If we can't get three points I'd settle for a high-scoring draw.
A big, big point to me is mind over body, yes we will have some tired bodies but the player will be well aware of our run and wont let it go lightly. We have shown more than onc of late that adrenaline and will power can overcome a lot. I honestly think the worst we can expect is a draw.
National Group official Neil Swarbrick has been selected to take charge of Saturday's Barclays Premier League game between Sunderland and Arsenal at the Stadium of Light. Swarbrick didn't join the list until the age of 29 and made rapid progress, refereeing 29 senior games during his first season at Football League level in 2005/06. Lancashire-based, Swarbrick has been a regular fixture ever since and was handed a heavy workload last season, including Championship fixtures. He has shown 78 yellow cards and four reds in 22 games this term. Swarbrick is yet to take charge of Sunderland or Arsenal this season, the last game he refereed Sunderland in was the 2010 FA Cup clash with Barrow at the Stadium of Light.
The thing is we are not scoring tap ins, but long range shots, and our midfielders are weighing in with a few. I would start the new greek defender, and next week bring in Wayne bridge, because Turner is not good enough i am afraid. We have to stop Van persie and Walcott or we are in trouble!. 1-1 draw.
