Exactly right. The fact he refuses to sign a new contract says a lot. Its very likely he is waiting to see whether Arsenal can compete for top honours next year before deciding where he wants to play. I don't see any other explanation for not signing a contract. I certainly don't buy the argument that he needs to keep his concentration on each game - he could let his agent do all the work.
Correct - the agents do all the work. They sound out the Club's view on contract length, bonuses, media rights, and wage. Then the fine print - buy out clauses and the like. Only then does the player have to worry about what is on offer.
It is absolute bollox that players cannot play if they are thinking about contracts. Much like Samba being dropped because his "head isn't right". Complete and utter **** !
Furthermore - and I will say it plainly, anyone who agrees with that load of tosh is an idiot. It is weird how normal people on normal/low wages can work and perform under far more stress and pressure than these prima donnas, but contemplating a new contract renders footballers useless If you believe that, like I said, you are an idiot
Partially true. We would have kept both Fabregas and Henry, but there is an interview with Vieira and Lee Dixon where Vieira says that the club were 'neutral' on him staying, he said that was what made the difference, if the club had said 'we want you to stay' he says he would have.
Well odds are he will leave in the summer..... I just wonder how all of a sudden he seems to be cured of all his ailments, I honestly do not remember the last time he has been injury free since the start of the season..... Hmm just wondering......No one would have touched him if his injury record had persisted this season, we all knew he had immense talent, but injury, now he is seemingly injury free, he is now being coveted..... aargh!
He said he's going to wear some of those gloves that big jessies wear, so he'll be alright - and he asked if he can pop round yours for a hot cup of cocoa afterwards?
This is his first injury free season, amazing really. While he does owe Arsenal .... fairness and loyalty seem to be a rarity these days.
I never realised..... Having said that, lets not jump the gun, and say this is first season injury free. As we are nearing the business end of the season...... He gets injured now, well we are well and trully fecked!
Just hope Diaby, can make a similar recovery, because inspite of what most fans say, I really rate him and want him to get a good run. There is no mention of him on the Arsenal site re: his come back from injury.
Van Persie just tweeted he never even spoke to Marca and never made such a statement, so that's put to bed, Spuds fans, go back to bed.
Persie_Official Robin van Persie Contrary to reports in Spain I have NEVER spoken to Marca newspaper and never gave any interview. Enjoy your day That's what we said right at the start of this article
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...said-to-be-'excited'-by-real-interest?cc=5739 Arsenal captain Robin van Persie has reportedly told Spanish newspaper MARCA that he would be "excited" by a move to Real Madrid. Van Persie, 28, is out of contract in the summer of 2013 and, although Arsenal plan to hold talks over an extension before the end of the season, talk has been gathering pace that Barcelona and Madrid plan to make a move. "I am happy to hear of the interest of a club as important as Real Madrid," Van Persie is quoted as telling MARCA. "Of course I would be excited to play there." However, he added: "I do not think Arsenal will be willing to negotiate." Former Madrid director Jorge Valdano does not believe the club need Van Persie and has suggested the Camp Nou would be a more appropriate destination. "Van Persie is needed more at Barcelona than at Real Madrid in my opinion," Valdano told El Larguero. "Madrid are already pretty close to having perfect squad." Van Persie is currently the Premier League's top goalscorer, having netted 22 goals in his 24 appearances so far this season. Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has played down suggestions Andrei Arshavin could join Anzhi Makhachkala or former club Zenit St Petersburg before the Russian transfer window closes this month. "I expect him to be here after February 24 and that is clear," Wenger said.
