It's funny that not a single person has put Falque in their 16 yet. I think we've all forgotten he exists.
Just read the head-to-head on the BBC's preview, some alarming stats in there! - The 11th placed Clarets, three points outside the play-offs, have won eight of their last 12 Championship games, and avoided defeat seven of the last eight. - Eddie Howe's side have the division's second best record away from home, and have won an unrivalled five away games against top-half clubs.
I dont really care about the stats - if Saints play well they should win. It's the matter of Saints playing well that is of more concern than those stats!
Indeed. Doesn't matter when it comes to tomorrow. You could bring up our stats about being one of the highest scorers and having a great home record.
Or the one about us only having won two of the last ten games. The stats don't mean anything by themselves, but they do indicate that Burnley are far from a pushover.
I'm fairly confident that the team/squad will be: Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Fox Puncheon Cork Morgan Lallana Sharp Lambert Bart, Martin, Hammond, Guly, Connolly I think Hammond will start against West Ham, and not this one, whilst I can't see Chaplow being quite up to starting a league game just yet. Connolly may keep his place, whilst Guly could come in for Puncheon. But I'd be surprised if either happened. As for the Martin abuse, which I see has reared it's head again briefly on this thread, I just don't get it. Yes I know, as a fierce critic of Harding's, that I'm hardly in a position to pass comments (stones, glass houses, and everything), but I just don't get how people can say things like "hope I never see him a Saimts shirt again". He plays well more often than he doesn't, and still being young and inexperienced, you'd expect him to only improve further. I'm not saying he's great or anything, and I'd have no problems with Adkins bringing in another CB, but I not once ever seen his name on our teamsheet and felt my heart sink a little.
Oh, and as for the result, I'm very confident about this one. (Though the last time I was this confident - or for the matter, was confidence to any degree - we did end up losing 1-0 to Bristol City). Great to have a home 3pm Saturday ko again. I missed the 3-0 win over Brighton, so I haven't had one since Boro. Ages ago!
def think that reeves has earnt his place on the bench- offers a different option as well. tje other kids see him and it encourages them more
Hooiveld only returned to full training yesterday so think he won't be playing. Fonte has been awful recently so owes us a good performance.
Nope. As I've said on another thread, Connolly over Lee - at least for now. Connolly may have been below-par enough recently to warrant relegation to the bench, but not out of the 16 all together. And Lee is yet to prove himself a better option than Connolly. Unfortunate for Lee, but we can only select 16 players.
Well how is he meant to prove himself by not being involved? He'll be in the squad, as Nigel was clearly impressed with him the other night, as were many.
As I say, it's unfortunate. Falque likewise. If this bloody sub rule hadn't been changed, and we could still have 7 subs, Lee would be in my squad and could potentially get a chance. As it is, we can only select 16 players. And Connolly doesn't deserve to lose his place within that, imo.
This is such an important game. If we win everything will be rosy on here and there will be " what players should be in our prem squad?" threads. And if we lose there will be carnage.
Got to hope the game goes ahead! Currently -4 in Southampton. Agree, if we lose or draw there will be people on here saying we'll be lucky to make the play-offs... And I can understand why!
Well on recent form, I'd argue that he does deserve to lose his place. We haven't got the time or patience to fell sorry for Connolly because he's coming towards the end of his career and therefore keep including him in the squad. We need someone who's going to make an impact and Lee does that. Sharp to start alongside Rickie hopefully.
It's been -12 up here in the Northampton wilderness, hope the game goes ahead or if it is called off then they do it early as we are setting off at about 11am. Nothing worse than driving for two hours and then having to turn round and come back again Due to the Burnley fans having to set off even earlier, I hope they make an early decision!
Interesting seeing the Peterborough v West Ham game has been called off, i suppose it means there players will be a little sharper Tuesday night or it might put a little more pressure on them if we win today
