Is he that broke.? Bristol City goalkeeper David James has been fined for speeding in a 12-year-old Vauxhall Astra that typically trades for only £500. James, who was capped 53 times by England, was caught doing 90mph on the M5 in the V-reg banger in July of last year â 20mph over the road's 70mph limit. James was ordered to pay £275 for the incident that occurred in between his family home in Chudleigh, Devon, and his current club Bristol City. He was fined £175 but also had to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge. At the time of the incident James accepted the option of attending an educational driving course to avoid receiving points on his licence â but he failed to attend and therefore saw three penalty points put on his previously clean license. The 41-year-old is on an estimated £15,000-a-week at Championship club City, although he was on £50,000-a-week at Portsmouth as recently as two years ago. James did not attend North Somerset Magistrates Court in Weston-super-Mare to hear the ruling. James, now 41, has the second highest number of appearances in Premier League history (behind only Ryan Giggs) after having played for Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham, Manchester City and Portsmouth in the top division. After a string of gaffes during one bad spell with Liverpool he was given the nickname 'Calamity James.' Source:http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs...nd-star-caught-speeding-banger-130324638.html
£275 for going 90 on the motorway? ****ing hell, Police nowadays still find a way of wasting their time despite cuts to their workforce.
Yeah, I know - 90 in a 12 year old vauxhall - which downhill stretch was that on, and if its that old - damn, he's a brave man! It'd take a week to get that rustbucket to stop...
Fortunately I haven't been done for speeding for a while (kiss of death that, no doubt), so what's a "victim surcharge"?
'Punished financially' The measure was introduced as part of the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004. The Home Office says it is part of a series of moves by Home Secretary John Reid to "rebalance" the criminal justice system in favour of victims.
I'd be very surprised if he driving that car because he was broke. He's an intelligent guy so has probably made a sensible choice, rather than buying an expensive car to serve his ego and waste money through depreciation. Good for him Jurgen Klinnsman used to drive an old VW Beetle. http://www.google.nl/imgres?q=jurge...6&tbnw=170&start=0&ndsp=28&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0 Eric Cantona lived in a relatively modest house (87k) in Boothstown, complete with crazy paving. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...--its-ever-so-umble-chez-cantona-1572564.html
Why shouldn't an ex England player drive around in a 500quid old banger when one of Englands current superstars spends time riding old bangers that I'm sure don't cost 500notes
The funny thing is that the ugly turd is a multi millionaire who is one of the most famous people in the country and still had to pay for it....and then he pays to screw old biddies What a **** up of a man he is Hope he gets sent off tomorrow...after missing a pen and scoring an og.
