I think a few football specials may be required on the train on Saturday. Haven't had a good drink in ages so Saturday could be a tad messy.
Rocky, are u coming and are u up for a few beers (stupid question about being up for a few beers)

pity - we were actually ok for most of the game and we looked strong everytime we went forward. HOWEVER....the ****ing defence let us down again. first goal, we were put in a bad position by winfields poor distrobution and no-one stopped the player cutting in. we let them have free headers and in general didnt close down. second goal, harper (who had another **** game) lost the ball in midfield, no one closed it and nikki bull made what i think is his first error in 18 months. 3rd goal just beggared believe. waddock made subsitutions too late, and not the right ones either (does anyone else think mcclure would have been a better bet?)

we looked good enough going forward, but for next game PLEASE get harper out of there, bring in lewis. maybe change the defence, but i have no idea how.

incidently, did anyone get a good view of the chance in the first half which was headed towards his own goal by the defender. did it cross the line?

I had a reasonable view of the possible own goal from the right end of the Frank Adams. It was close but I thought it just crossed the line. That might just be a bit partial though. In any case there was no chance of that linesman making a decision, he looked frightened of his own shadow all night.
I disagree about the performance. I thought we were poor throughout. Even in the first half the long aimless balls out of defence had even less quality than normal. Beaver is good at feeding on scraps but he's entitled to a bit more help than that.
And what a referee! Comfortably the worst this season. Waving yellow cards around for no reason, no concept of what a fair tackle is, and should have sent off their number 10 for a second yellow, but bottled it.

Yep have to agree. I cant recall a game where the ref interfered with play more. The twat thought we were all there to see him. Not good enough for league football.
By the way did anyone else notice Winfield and Lewis exchanging words and almost punches after we scored our second.. not looking good for team spirit.

have to say, i though i'd imagined that driving away from the ground, glad to see someone else metioning it! no idea what went on there, bloomfield and someone else almost had to force them apart! does show that there is something wrong with this team, they seem not to agree with something

Time for another rant list I think!! 1) If we insist on playing two short front men then we need to stop hoofing the ball up to them and keep it on the floor instead. 2) Need some more height/strength in midfield as Bloomfield is sadly not good enough. 3) Winfield is fast becoming a liability. 4) Try playing McCoy on the right/left side of midfield to offer more defensive cover. 5) Pass the ball to each other and make the opposition chase it more.

One solution not looked at would be Lewis playing R/Back. I seem to remember he played that position sometimes when he played for Gillingham. If my memory serves, he played that position against Aston Villa in the cup and marked Ashley Cole out of the game. Don't see any of our lot doing that. In the short term this ticks boxes, Lewis has pace, can tackle, and pass the ball. I dont think anybody would disagree we need to do something with our defence, with the players that we have available, this seems to me a viable option.
