I think the general consensus (media pundits) was that Arsenal weren't up for it? I think that is slightly condesending as Arsenal ARE a good team, but we matched them with determination/Work rate and as MON pointed out in his interview ABILITY. We changed the system slightly yesterday but all in all the tactics were the same letting them pass their little hearts out in areas that weren't dangerous. As a counter attacking threat we are as good as anyone but with players like Sess/Larson/Gardiner/Cattermole/Frazer/McClean we have players with quality something I think we should be given more credit for. Also I thought Richardson is getting better at left back probably because of the excellent backup he gets from McClean and Coleback is just getting better and better someone who always looks assured and calm on the ball. In OShea I think we have found his best position and Turner and Bardsley have been reliable and solid. Well I've basically bigged them all up but after yesterdays game they deserve it
i was in the west stand near the jurno's amd at half time went to speak to a few of them (i knew one and he introduced me to a few outhers) and they were talking about how impressed they were by sunderland since MON took over
Just watched the whole game again and I've got to say the commentator (Clive Tyldesley) was heaping prise on the lads.
MON style of play is first of all to stop the opposition from playing which is not my cup of tea but very effective. And then counter attack and catch teams on the break, which has been very effective. Not great to watch but it works. If we finish 7/8th in the league and win the FA cup. Everyone bar SAFC supporters will say we are lucky. And you know what, I couldn't give give a wet fart what anyone else in the world thinks.
I know he did which was good to hear, but all I'm hearing today is about "Arsenal, a team in crisis?" For once I would like to hear about us winning because of our ability/talent and not about the oppossitions lack of desire. I was glad to hear MON mention "ability" yesterday and look forward to hearing it mentioned more often when comments are made about Sunderland.
it will be a while before we are given any credit at the moment all these so called top teams are just having an off day we will just have to keep up the good performances and the acollades will come
Get real man, this is Sunderland we are talking about. Surely you dont expect the media to give us a good write-up. Just get used to it, the majority of us have.
Someone usually posts a torrent of the games in the few days afterwards so check out your favourite peer-to-peer sites (but then nab it quick as they don't stay seeded long).
