Been watching City a fair bit this season when they've been on telly and to be honest I hope they win the league as they have so many genuinely entertaining players. But one thing has got me thinking watching them play and that is just how good is Micah Richards?! I personally rate him very highly and is a pure beast of a footballer and is clearly a far superior right back to arguably most in the premier league let alone English RB so why has been so low on the national pecking order? I'm not that fussed about England or the Euro's but it'll give me something to watch this summer at least. I believe this is my first post and I know it's not toon related but there's not that much going on with us that hasn't already been covered by others on here. I enjoy having a good look around the posts on here chaps and am truly loving this season as the best times we've had since I first started going to games when we played under Sir Bob.

Best Right back in the country, remember watching them when they beat us 3-1 in November and thought even in a team of superstars he was the best player. Also when they demolished Man Utd 6-1 him and Milner were the two key players.

Liked him from the first time I saw him. Very good intelligent footballer.

I personally rate Kyle Walker as a better player.

I don't think there's much in it, but Richards is a better defender, probably down to experience as much as anything. Thing is, he deserves to be starting for England, he's a million times better than Johnson, but if Harry gets the England job Walker will get the position, do once again, Rochards will miss out, despite being the best man for the job.

Nice to have options at international level. Richards did start his career with a bang, but then drifted a bit, but since Mancini went to City He's come on leaps and bounds. Johnson and Walker are also great options to have.

Richards started well then lost his way for a while, back to his best now.

Kyle Walker is a very good player, downside he plays for Spurs.

I like Walker and I reckon he could be a top player but i think he's not anywhere near Richards defensively probably because of his physical attributes but Walker hopefully will kick on to a top player but i could see him becoming another Glen Johnson as he is still defensively lacking positional awareness and with Tottenham being so attack minded might well end up being a long term issue. This is not an issue with Richards as he's played for city when they were a poor side and last season when defence was a main focus of early Mancini at city so i think Richards is head and shoulders above other RB's in the prem also his physical attributes make him a beast for dealing with corners!

Mancini can go out and pretty much buy any player he likes..... its says it all that Richards gets a game week in week out

Kyle Walker is the better option for me. both have their problems positionally but Walker is quicker and a better footballer. Richards is more powerful but I'd always go with the more natural footballer personally. Richards is very entertaining though with his superman dives and full tilt bursts forward. I think he is 3rd in the pecking order because you need to have different options in a squad. Glen Johnson was poor defensively up until this year but has been one of Liverpools best players this year. He offers the more adventurous attacking option you may need against the teams who come and park the bus. Attacking full backs are a must in this scenario and though both Walker and Richards do this well, Johnson is the best of the 3. So I think Richards is just unlucky in that there is a better defensive full back, and a better attacking full back.

Problem is he is up against Walker really as they very alike. Johnson will always get in as he offers a different option which you do need.

Richards is a better defender than Johnson and he's equally good going forward.

Walker needs another year playing top-flight football before he's ready, I think.

You couldn't really say Richards is as good as Johnson going forward. Technically Johnson is a lot more skilful, a much better passer of the ball, more of threat scoring wise and a better crosser of the all. I'd struggle to find an area where Richards is ahead of Johnson in attacking attributes?

I'd also say Walker is proven after two full years in the top flight, and to be honest has already proven himself for England too. Richards has done well but is blatantly the worst of the three technical wise which will play a big part in picking people for international football.

Experimental as he suggested. I know Barry is having a fabulous season for Citeh but I still wouldn't pick him.

Johnson is fairly skilful, he's got a decent cross, but he's hardly a scoring threat and he's no better a passer of the ball

PS. Walker's only had about 12 months in the top-flight

Walker played 6 months for Villa last year, plus spending 6 months in 2010 as back up full back at Spurs. Thus by the the time of the championships will have two full seasons in. I'm a big believer anyway in the school of "if good enough then old enough".

We'll have to disagree on Richards and Johnson. Johnson is not a massive goal threat but he does cut in on his left and has scored some crackers for Liverpool. I like Richards but he is not the most cultured footballer, more of a brutal battering ram. I always prefer technique over power.
