    Mine -

    1. Messi - Amazing. Best player ever.

    2. C.Ronaldo - I don't think he's miles behind Messi. Messi is definitely the better player, but I think Ronaldo's goal scoring records can't be argued with. He also strikes a ball from long range better than anyone IMO. He's the best at long shots and his finishing is nearly as good as Messi's.

    3. Xavi - Creative genius. Not much more needs to be said.

    4. Ineista - Another creative beast, fantastic skill. Not much explanation is needed.

    5. Rooney - Probably get battered for this, but he's a fantastic all round player. To call him just a striker would be an injustice. He's got an all round brilliant game to him. Creatively he's vital for Man Utd, when he isn't scoring he's providing, and drops back very deep to defend quite often. He's physically a fantastic athlete also. He's strong on the ball, great balance. Good pace also. Works very hard. 2nd top scorer this season.

    6. RVP - Better striker than Rooney, but not as good of a player IMO. Still though, Immense player. The best finisher in the world after Messi and Ronaldo. Also good creatively.

    7. Sergio Ramos - Versatility at it's finest. Such a brilliant player. Can play anywhere across the back and pretty much anywhere in midfield. He's defensively solid, good on the ball, good passer and a decent goal threat. If I could have one defender for free, I'd choose Ramos. IMO he's the most valuable defender in the world. He's technical, in a different way. I know there's other players like Mascherano, who are fantastic, world class players, but they don't play as many positions as well as Ramos, in my opinion.

    8. Robben - Not having his best season ever, but IMO the best player in the world after the top two. He's got superb pace, skill on the ball, fantastic finisher and great shots. Creatively not as good as Ineista and Xavi, but I still think as an all round effective player, he's the 3rd best player in the world when in his best form. Just such immense pace and skill as well as a massive goal threat and can set up chances.

    9. Ribery - Normally I'd say he's not the best finisher/striker of the ball, but he's 2nd top scorer for Bayern this season. Such great pace and skill on the ball, great creatively qualities, all round fantastic player.

    10. Silva - Cooled off a bit towards the end of the season, but still deserves to be up there. Very technical all round player. One of the best creative mids in the world, great skill on the ball.

    1) Messi
    2) Xavi

    5) RVP
    6) Silva
    7) Villa
    8) Robben
    9) Fabregas

It's beyond me how you can say Rooney is better than RVP... or that Ramos is the best defender in the world! <confused>

    1. Ronaldo, Everyone will choose the top 2, I just think as he gets more goals (just), in and out the box he gets it for me. Goals win games.
    2. Messi, dont need to explain really.
    3. Fabregas, scores loads of goals from his position, great vision.
    4. Iniesta Quality passing, can beat a man, gets goals as well.
    5. Robben, Best wide man out there, electric pace with and without the ball.
    6. Xavi, pass master, the modern day Scholes so to speak, plays keep ball.
7, Rooney, has huge influence on a game with and without the ball.
8, RVP goals galore the last year or two.
9, Ibrahimovic, gets alot of stick but just look at his goal and medals record as it tells it all.
10, Benzema, scoring alot of goals right now and playing the best stuff of his career.

He is IMO. He's not the best in any particular position, but as an all round defender that can play many positions, he is IMO.

I expect a German or two to make his way into these lists soon. Mueller and Gotze prime candidates.

Scholes is obviously better than Xavi and Iniesta as well! ;)

Why even quote Mascherano?? Barcas worst starting XI player!

Kompany, Pique, Puyol and Thiago Silva are all a level above Ramos imho, I'd even rate players like Hummels, Subotic and Vidic ahead of him. He's overrated, and not even the best player in the Real Madrid defense!

Mascherano is awesome at CDM, but he's not a great CB. Ramos is great at CB, fullback and CDM.

Gotze looks frighteningly good already, but Muller's progress has stalled. He's been very poor for Bayern this season, which is a shame considering how good he was at the World Cup :/

I'm not saying he's best in any particular position, if any of you had read what I was saying. He's more versatile than any other defender, not just because he can play plenty of different positions, but because of his level of play in those positions.

Maschearno can play CB but he's not really that good in that position.

Fair enough, Ramos is still a good player, and is versatile, but I don't think you should put so much stock in their versatility. Otherwise Perchinho would be Number 1 <whistle> ;)

As I said, it's not just that he's versatile, its because he still plays at such high quality in all those positions. :)

Mascherano not very good at centre back? He's Barca's best CB at the moment, certainly playing a lot better than Pique. In my opinion, Ramos is utterly ****e and Ribery is severely over-rated.

    My top ten would be:

    1. Messi
    2. Iniesta
    3. Xavi
    4. Ronaldo
    5. Van Persie
    6. Schweinsteiger
    7. Robben
    8. Hazard
    9. Silva
    10. Rooney

No defenders or keepers ever get a mention!

There is only best players in the world in certain positions in my opinion. You couldn't just have 11 Messis
