Need a bit of help here. I mentioned to the wife last night that I was thinking of buying a season ticket for me and my Dad. Cue a deathly silence when the figure 0f £1100 was mentioned. Even though her father and brother are rabid Fenerbache fans(shes Turkish by the way) she could not understand why I had to buy season tickets. I tried explaining that as my Dad is 77yrs old it was a chance for me and him to bond before he shuffled off this mortal coil but it was to no avail. She told me to give her one good reason why I should have the tickets. I only have one chance here so I need one hell of a good reason!!! Any help is much appreciated.... Thanks Kev..<confused>

Wow, if she didn't go for the Dad thing then she's a tough one to crack!

How about, this year you get a season ticket, next year she gets to choose where you spend the £1100...By then she'll either have been bitten by the bug herself (unlikely) come round to the idea of you and your Dad having 1 day every 2 weeks (cup runs not withstanding) to share a bit of Toon time (highly unlikely) or she'll have forgotten her side of the deal (entirely impossible)

Either way, you're gunna have to speculate to accumulate on this one!

Also, tell her you've been a Newcastle fan all of your life, it might not seem important to others, but when you're old, sitting on the couch, sipping tea and eating biscuits, complaining about the state of television in 2052, and a documentary comes on ESCPN Classics HD3D, showing Newcastle's rise to Champions League fame in the year 2012, you can sit and smile at her and say, "I was there, thanks to you" (cue rousing music and tearful embrace!)

It's your money. It's your life. I think you need to just grow a pair if I'm honest. Or don't get them and just buy single tickets. But remeber mate, when push comes to shove you're the boss. <ok>

Get her dad and brother to have a word with her, they might soften her up.

Keep em coming!! This all helps me. Finding it very hard explaining to her how important this is, she looks at me with disdain when i try. I`m thinking of falling at her feet and crying. To get the sympathy vote and that.

Tell her if she lets you buy them, you will give her fantastic oral pleasure every night for the rest of her life. Of course I'm assuming this is not the case already and your missus likes a bit of slap and tickle. Er...........

Seriously there is always something that a girl wants. A desired pair of shoes or handbag goes a long way in my experience. Is the £1100 your money, joint money, her money, or is it all the same thing these days? I suspect its the latter. If its essentially joint money then JWAG's suggestion is probably likely to get the best outcome. I've always resisted freeing up my whole wage for this reason!

Take her to Milan and that'll be your ST money blown for a few seasons.

Cat walks, new shoes, new designer dresses ......................... just try and follow WP's advice and do things on the cheap.

You're not selling me to the ladies here AB! <laugh>

Actually this has given me another thought. Is there any task that she does on a weekly basis that you know she hates? Offer to take on that task, its a small price to pay. Often its the thoughtful things that girls like (well that and the shiny things!) Just ensure that task is never likely to require you missing a game.

Tell her that you're going to go to the home games anyways and want to take your dad. Say each ticket costs about £40 that's £80 a game which works out at just short of £1600.

    You're pratically making her money!
