Pipe and Glas is the best in the area. Michelin Star. Fantacic food however pricey but you pay for what you get
Food there is awesome, service was shocking! Only do takeaway from there now. Romantic as I am, tend to go for pub grub a lot. Sailmakers on st Andrews quay do decent food. Good atmosphere and service too.
The Weir Bar in Hessle. The food is gorgeous, friendly staff and very nice restaurant and dining area. Also Mr James Bullard's old stomping ground.
I have been, I didn't rate it at all, cheaply fitted and not worth the money. The food was better when it was down Prinny Ave and I didn't rate it all that much there either. In fact, in this neck of the woods, you'll get a far better meal at the Fox and Coney(who nicked the chef from Cave Castle), or The Star at Sancton. The Wellington Inn at Lund is good if you're out Beverley way, The Wilson on the Marina is decent if you want to be central and fancy a steak. A lot of people rate The Pipe and Glass at Dalton, but personally I think it's too earthy(mushrooms with everything and I'm not a big fan of eating things that taste of mud). Larkins seem to get a lot of good reviews, I rarely hear anything negative, I've eaten there a couple of times, but I was so pissed I can't actually remember what the food was like.
That's just reminded me, I missed the best of them all, go to Cerrutti 2 at the station. The fish cake starter is brilliant and the 'posh fish and chips', it's spectacularly good, though I'll be impressed if anyone can actually manage to eat both. You get the added benefit of doing FLG a favour and gobbing on the window at Valencia when you leave.
Take her to the German Sausage place on Prinny Ave! Other than that, I'd do The Wilson on Marina, Pipe & Glass in South Dalton or my mate raves about Dine On The Rowe in Beverley. Never been myself but he swears by it
I'd recommend the Pipe & Glass in South Dalton near Beverley. The five chocolate dessert is insanely expensive for what it is but absolutely incredible!
To those who suggested 1884 dock kitchens, not one i would recommend, the owners is the same as the one that owns The Wilson on the marina to and the standard of food there is horrendous, and thats not me being bitter, i did get offered the job to run the new 1884 kitchens..... To be fair the standard off food there will be average, the head chef is a nice guy but one who is not the best cooks, got fired by Gordon Ramsey due to his incompetence i believe, so i would stay clear of it personally. And the fact he worked in a call centre is bad enough. And the pricing structure is the reason i didn't take this job as its just not competitive enough for Hull. Just a heads up
Obviously depends on how far you are willing to travel and your budget. Winteringham fields over the water is very good, very high standard and very different, romantic and intimate setting, very pricey but you get what you pay for. Brimbles bistro down Prinny ave is good, the foodis tasty and well cooked, reasonable price, good service ( friendly owner ) then youve always the option of going for a few drinks down prinny ave. Tickton grange is another restaurant i rate, food is excellent, service is good and it is in a really nice setting. Price is pretty reasonable too.
The wolds inn huggate, top notch steak I'd highly recommend the pork, good prices also and they aim there whole menu on large portions which is good for greedy bastards like me !!!
I was at Hitchcocks on friday. Italian night and an amazing dessert buffet. They also made us a huge birthday cake for £20 with greeting iced on and candles and singing so a great night for a Birthday...I also quite like Medicis in North Ferriby...and u can't beat the Carvery in Willerby!
