Well apparently there was a scientific study that found that red kits were more beneficial above every other colour scheme for such factors as subconsious intimidation of opponents, milisecond differences in time it takes the mind to pick out a teammate for a pass etc...

The owners said that if they changed the colour to red, they'd invest another 100million into the club.

This is a story that has long done the rounds. I think all red and all white were found to be the best. Its a load of ****e of course, its the players in the shirts that really make the difference.

We'll be one of the first teams to meet them as the 'Red Birds', inflict their first loss in red and go down in the history books for it.

Quite a turnaround - they had said they decided against doing this after the outcry from the Cardiff fans! <laugh>

Our new strip should incorporate the colours of MA's favourite club = White, while we should also include our own colours, that would leave us with..........errr = Black & White :1980_boogie_down: and not the Star Trek uniforms. Although I do believe that red was the original colour of our team and black & white stripes were the away kit, I am sure there are more knowledgeable fans out there who are able to confirm or deny.

Newcastle's colours at the outset was generally the home kit of Newcastle East End F.C., comprising plain red shirts with white shorts and red socks. In 1894 the club adopted the black and white striped shirts, which had been used as the reserve team's colours. These colours were chosen for the senior team because they weren't associated with either of the two teams United were merged from.

Thank you for that clarification Agent Bruce, I knew there were one or two memory cells still active in my head somewhere.

I think a fair percentage of our fanbase would be up for kit change if it meant tank tops and leather hotpants! <laugh>
