shame really, Just think he's better and now more experienced than what we have as backup to Tim
but if he wanted first team football, well what can you do... except stay and proove yourself
    but was always farmed out

I just hope we got a decent fee for him so we can re-invest into the playing squad as the singings thus far (barring elliot as i haven't seen a lot of him) Have turned good i think part is the amazing scouting system have but pardew has to take credit for giving players belief and allowing them to improve by knowing their roles and pards deserves a lot of credit for this.

After watching highlights of him over the past 2 seasons I think he's alright but will never be world class, his kicking is a little suspect and makes more mistakes than Krul. Him and Krul seemed to be on a par throughout their career but Krul's stepped up far more than Forster.

I know we all love Woody 'cause he's funny, but he must have enough quality to justify his position and he reckons Elliot has a lot more to give than what we've seen so far, so I'm happy enough with him at No.2...He's not really had a chance yet and his attitude seems spot on.

I have to be brutally honest here, Elliot will never be good enough for me. Putting aside his portly stature (he defo needs to get fitter), he just seems error prone from what little I've seen. I asked a few lads who go to the reserves and when I enquired they all just shook their heads in disapproval. Admittedly they did say they'd only seen him play half a dozen times so don't wanna be too harsh.

When he first signed he was definitely on the Andy Reid diet but I'm sure I read somewhere he'd dropped nearly half a stone over the course of the season. Also, he only started playing in goal at the age of 15 and got an academy contract with Charlton only a year later. I don't know, he's not impressed me yet, but I'm more than willing to give him the opportunity.

It's funny how some players just don't fill you with confidence - Gosling is the same!

I agree completely with this. I've seen him play and seen him during the pre-match warm-ups and he's little better than a traffic-cone at this level. I was scared witless when I saw Krul walk past me into the RVI with a suspected fracture before our last home match!

Hopefully Krul never gets injured, because Elliot appears as diminutive in talent as he does in the goals... (literally shocked to find out he is apparently 6ft 2, he looks tiny compared with everyone else!)

I can't help but think he was signed as the cheapest possible cover for the done deal that was the Forster/Celtic move.

Gosling is just painfully slow and goes missing for long periods. He defo has an eye for goal chance but its not really enough.

If this was the case, I just don't see Woody throwing so much support behind him. In the interview (think it might have been on nufctv) he basically said that he put his neck on the line trying to get him here. Fairly sure the interview was done AFTER we qualified for Europe and as such would be giving Elliot more starts. I can understand he'd want to buoy the lad up a bit, but he was so emphatic that it was HIS suggestion, that it would look ridiculous if he knows he's a bit ****!

Don't get me wrong, I've seen nothing from Elliot that would suggest he'll be anything other than OK, but for the purpose of playing devils advocate (and having seen the improvements of players like Perch and Raylor last season) I don't think we can write him off just yet!
