Is it just me or do other's get wound up seeing adults walking around Swansea wearing Liverpool shirts.
Every time I see one I feel like giving a ear full.
I can understand kids wearing them, they don't know any better.
    IS IT JUST ME.

    No it's not you.

They have an affliction, it's called plastic fan syndrome and they're all a fcuking disgrace. I saw one the other day sitting outside the Harvester right outside the Liberty wearing a Man Ure shirt.
One of my mates went up and gave him a peace of his mind, pointed at the Liberty telling him there was a Premier League team 50 yards away !
The more these people are told the better, it makes me sick too to see locals wearing shirts of clubs that play 100's of miles away.

    Glad it's not only me.
I went up to somebody last week wearing an Arsenal shirt and asked what part of London they came from? Guess what the answer was, Morriston!!!!!!!!
I could understand it when we were in the forth tier but not now.

Spread the word brother, it's open season on all plastic fans. They deserve all they get.

I for one was delighted with the stance the club took regarding anyone wearing opposition shirts in our ends of the Liberty. Remember that idiot who got kicked out early on against Man U ?

If someone is walking around swansea wearing a Man utd or liverpool top thats up to them, ever thought they might not actually be swansea born and bred ?? the other thing is that i at least respect some of these people for not ditching their colours and jumping on the swans band wagon like many have done! if they liked liverpool years ago and still like them now thats fine by me, i dont really see what the fuss is about.

Many years ago there would be nothing but liverpool, man utd, spurs and Everton top s around town, the new generations of swans fans have been born into swans gear from day 1, it helps that there is actually a club shop that sells a decent number of items but i see more jacks now than i ever did, especially amongst kids. Dont be to hard on people who wear liverpool or man utd tops, its probably something they have always done and always will do, at least they have the balls to be loyal to their colours, for this they should be respected at least.

We are progressing our club nicely, there is more swans merc. out there now than there has ever been, there are plenty of people wearing our colours, things are good on and off the field, no need to worry about the odd man utd fan having a pint outside the liberty!

Anyway if you managed to convert these people they will only end up on the waiting list for tickets along with thousands of others !! we arnt ready to steal the masses just yet, only got a 20,000 seater stadium see butt ..<laugh>

Well said Norway, if we went to a Rugby game there is no segregation. Why should people not wear the colours of the team they support without harassment, better you walk up, shake their hand and share your interest in football. I wore my Swans shirt to the Mexico Wales game here recently, got talking to lot's of Cardiff people who were there as well as loads of Mexicans who were really interested in talking about Swansea and the way we play. We are all football fans together what ever shirt we wear and it was a most enjoyable day, no animosity just fans together.
My Mother was born in Cardiff as was my brother, sister, brothers son in law and most of the rest of my family, I was born in Neath. So who am I going to fight against, the rest of my family? although they weren't too fussed when I said last time I was over, If Cardiff City were playing in my back garden I'd shut the curtains, but that's just me.

Touched a nerve have we ?

I have no time for plastics and glory hunters of any club and that includes ours. I know genuine fans of the Swans who can't get tickets because of it.

I have mixed feelings on this one.

My Grandfather, and father are Swansea fans. The rest of my family are Man Utd/Liverpool fans. They began watching football back in the 80's, when most people supported Pool, Man Utd, and the like. My uncle in particular is a massive United fan. He has been a ST holder for 7 years, even though he lives here in Wales and he has EVERY shirt (Home, away) for the past 14 years, so it's quite common to see him in a United shirt even though he lives in Wales.

Then, you have the plastics who support a team based on success alone. I'v shouted for the Swans for 17 years of my life, 8 being the age that I attended my first game and had the pleasure of taking in the atmosphere of the Vetch field. With us being a PL club now, you see no end of Swansea shirts around the place, which is great for the club I agree, but where were they when we were in the CCC? I myself have missed out on a ST for two years, even after going to 23 games a season approximately for the past 4 years, even living 80 miles away. I don't really care though. So long as my team does well, it doesn't matter if I'm in the Liberty, in the pub, at home, in Canada or Oz! I share the love of those Jacks in the stadium with my Swans!

Went a little off topic lol, but as a whole, it annoys me a little, but can see both sides.

This whole plastic fan thing is a joke too, todays plastic may be tomorrows fanatic and NeXT years loyal follower of all things swansea. 10yrs later said plastic is dressing his kidsin swans gear and spending money on a family at the football.

Dont bite the hand that feeds!

Remember when our hardcore support was 2000 ? Does that mean There Are 16000 plastics nowadays?
Remember when we struggled to take 20000 to wembly for huddersfeild and northampton? Does that mean There were 20000 plastics at wembly against reading?

We have grown core support year on year since the petty era and the reason we Are where we Are now is because of the extra revenue brought in by new fans.
Anyway, i understand the points Made above. its a shame to miss out on the games These days but we must look at the big picture.

I have supported Arsenal since a boy, alongside the Swans. Just becuase we are not in the same division doesnt mean I would abandon my love for both clubs. Difficult to watch when we play each other, split down the middle - hence why I wear the half and half scarf!

Your home top this year looks good, people should be wearing it!

Also, can you call Liverpool fans 'glory hunters' right at this very moment?

I lived in Tenby between the ages of 10-16 and the majority my age supported Man Utd and some Liverpool. So 15-20 years ago when these adults were children and they didn't have their own freedom or money to go watch their local team play, so they had to make do with watching the sport they love on TV. So naturally they adopt a favourite team they can watch every week.

Christ my dads side are potters but no one took me to watch games so naturally I didn't grow up supporting them. I lived and went to school that was 15 miles away from Liverpool and 15 miles away from Manchester...My best mate supported Liverpool and so I did too...we were kids...just like the majority of these adults were when they started supporting their clubs.

I have a friend from back in my Wales days who is a Liverpool fan, but now Swansea has been his number one team for the past 3/4 seasons, which I also think is ok.

Because that ruins 95% of the fun. Football is tribal.

All Swans fans should walk around carrying loud hailers or megaphones and when you see someone in another football shirt you should all point and shout whatever insult you see fit..<whistle>

Let's put things into perspective here. I'm not advocating giving someone a backhander or any nonsense just because they're a plastic, that would be totally unacceptable. Giving them a talking to and educating them the error of their ways is fine by me.

Rev, you won the Carling Cup last season so I'm afraid with that recent success anyone following you not from Merseyside could in theory be classed as a glory hunter. You however are clearly not, I can tell this by some of the desperate words you use in your postings and I have to say you're a welcome visitor to our board.

I do however reserve the right to engage in some light hearted banter

No mate, just pointing out that there are people walking around other towns/cities wearing Swans tops.

Your wish to keep your club 'local' might be well and good in the lower leagues but the out of town income stream is important to clubs in the prem, we have had out of town support since the 60s Dilli but in those days it was just Ireland,Wales and Lancashire and these days its global.

People from Swansea are free to support who they like just like not every player you sign isn't or wasn't a Swans fan but plays for your team, personally i like the fact that we've got loyal supporters from outside of Liverpool/Merseyside and as Rev pointed out there aint been much glory for them to hunt of late which negates your description of them.
