First off - Sell Cisse! ****ing **** <cool>

I'm so happy with the performance, apart from a few shakey parts. When I saw Colo was out, I instantly thought "please don't play Willo and Saylor together". Pards has a brain. Saylor and Perch go well together, just like Saylor and Colo. One good in the air, strong, one nippy, comfortable on the ball, and Perch has good pace for a CB.

I think Spurs might be able to count themselves a tad unlucky, as despite us, IMO, being the better side overall, they almost scored a few times in the first half.

    However, we battled on.

Ben Arfa was the difference. He added that bit of quality.

Simmo had a shakey game, but he made some vital interceptions and his cross lead to the goal.

    Ratings -

Krul - 8 - A shakey moment or two, but good overall. Some great touches and claims. Solid.

Simmo - 6 - He had a very shakey first half. He picked it up in the 2nd half though. People may blame Simmo for the goal, for tucking in too much, but It was Hatem that should have been on the edge of the box, and we ****ed about way too much in critical areas. It was ****ing about that lead to the goal. Not Simmo's mistake. He made some good interceptions, and his one when he cut out Defoe, and cleared it away, that was awesome. Not the best game from him, but he did enough.

Perch - 8.5 - Very solid. His decision making and reactions were brilliant, he made a ****ing amazing challenge right at the final second to deny Spurs a goal.

Taylor - 8.5 - Beast! That little head back to Krul was ****ing amazing. Saylor is ****ing beast.

Santon - 8 - Very good. Good reading of the game, cut out a lot of balls, he looks very good compared to last season.

Jonas - 8.5 - Worked very hard, and was awesome in the first half. Still very good in the second. Great defending, vital to the team.

Tiote - 8 - He kept his head well in this game. Solid.

Cabaye - 7 - Good defensive shift, not that much quality apart from a few cracking balls.

Ben Arfa - 9 - His quality decided the result. Awesome. A few quiet spells, but overall fantastic.

Cisse - 5 - A few good passes and player a part in our build up play, but unfortunately didn't do a lot. Sell him now!

Ba - 9 - Superb. Got back, defended, showed great energy, and what a ****ing finish.

Anita - 7 - Wow! Looks ****ing immense. A little bit of a mess up at the beginning, but after that... jesus! That first time ball to Cisse was almost ****ing world class. The vision to spot it, and almost the execution! Plus his dribbling is ****ing fantastic. Some of the things he did today, on his debut, were amazing for first game in a new league!

MOTM - Tough decision, but I'll give it to Ben Arfa.

Overall - My arm ****ing kills. That is all.

Amen to the Ben Arfa MOTM. You could see in the first half when he ran at the Spurs midfield they were scared, thats how they got 2 quick bookings. It was a moment of quality when he won the penalty for us, and that was the difference. Having said that his penalty wasn't that great, lucky Friedel dvied the wrong way.
Was impressed by Anita, hope to see more of him next game, thought Cabaye offered very little today apart from some poor set pieces (clearly not fit).
Glad to see Ba back on the scoresheet and get a monkey off his back, he needed that goal and we needed the win. First victorious start to a campaign since Big Fat Sam's opening game.

Hardly disagree at all, except Jonas was my Man of the Match. I don't think we were the better team either, we controlled the game but Spurs looked far more dangerous than us. Fair play though, we had the most talented player on the park and he was the difference in the sides, Hatem Ben Arfa!

Taylor's head back to Krul was hilarious, early contender for piss take of the season, it was so cool.

Ben Arfa was class, reckon he had that corner planned before he got pen. Glad he got to take it instead of Ba (whose goal was class, just he's missed his last two pens).

Agree with rest, apart from Anita. Looks canny lightweight and average to me, but it's way too early to judge him properly.

He did a bit at times, but he showed some great class also. Some great skill, skinned a couple players. Almost made the perfect pass for Cisse straight away.

How many free kicks did Spurs win today?
They had it down to an art, it was disruptive and frustrating.

Thought we were a tad lucky to get 3 points today, although 2nd half was a massive improvement on the 1st. Jonas was excellent and I think Anita will prove to be an excellent buy.

Could have gone either way. But I think If anyone deserved to nick it, It was us. We produced the better quality, they just had too much pace on the counter for us.

Agreed. Despite how they see it, we produced the best moments of quality in the game, and deserved to nick it IMO.

Not being funny but I was impressed with Simpson today and no one seems to have praised him for his performance.

I thought a lot of people would have slaughtered him, and I was right, to an extent.

But I mentioned in the thread that he improved 2nd half and he made some great interceptions. He played his part.

I think he also had a shakey first half, mainly because he was against Bale by himself. HBA is **** defensively. Apart from a few decent challenges, he can't defend. He doesn't track players, he doesn't know how to position himself.

This Is why I suggested playing 4-4-2 with Raylor. However, I'll admit I was wrong, although I think we still would have won 1-0, or drawn 0-0, we took the gamble, had the balls to play attacking football, and moments of quality won it for us.

Krul looked dodgy too. Fumbled a few shots that he might've caught cleanly last year. Getting used to new balls?
