My team for next season: -----------------Reina------------------ MK/GJ----Carra-----New CB---Enrique ----------------Lucas------------------- --------Gerrard-----Meireles---------- Saurez----------------------------LW ----------------Carroll------------------ or (442): -----------------Reina------------------ MK/GJ----Carra-----New CB---Enrique ------------Lucas---New CM------------- Gerrard/Meireles-------------------LW ----------------------Saurez--------------- -----------Carroll-------------------------- If you consider Gerrard, Lucas and Meireles as established midfield players, in a 433 or 442 there will always be a need for a LW. I think G Jonno can be pushed forward as a RW (if not Kuyt). If we spend on a new CM/CDM I think he will play as Lucas' back up or play next to him as Spearing is doing now, at the expense of Gerrard or Meireles. I have no idea who will actually be coming in during the summer, but I can see big money being spent on a LW, Enrique and a CB. Any other signings will be used as squad players and will be based on funds from departures.
Hopefully Reina in Goal. Kelly rb with Flanaghan cover, sell Johnson. New CB paired with Agger or Carra 1 of them+Skrtel as backup. New Lb with Robinson and aurelio cover. Cm we got Lucas, Gerrard, Mereiles, Spearing get Coady into the first team squad as cover and sell everyone else. Sell Ngog and get Adam Morgan in as cover for Suarez and Carroll. Get someone in with a bit of pace such as Ashley Young or Nzogbia then we got Kuyt as back up for the strikers and hopefully Sterling and possibly couple of others such as Toni Silva as backup that can play the role kuyt is doing.
In: Banega, Young, Turan, Coentrau . LW, RW, LB and HM. Out: Ngog (not improved as much as I hoped), Jovanovic (too old to be given a chance imo), J cole (not impressed), Aurelio (injured far too much to be cost effective), Soto (liability sometimes), Skrtel (been good for us, rather give some of the youth a chance though and sell him whilst he's still worth something), Poulson, Konchesky, Maxi. Free up a hell of a lot of wages; fill out the rest of the reserve space with youngsters. Pretty simple really, just requires buyers for our dross and Henry to provide the initial funds.
I think a quality center half and left back are the two main priorities. I heard Mertesacker being linked to us, only 26 wealth of experience, proven at the highest level. Luis Enrique at left back would solve alot of problems too. I really don't subscribe to the Ashley Young fan club, think he'll be vastly overpriced and there's alot better around.Arda Turan would be better value.
I'd much rather move Kelly to CB and use him, Carragher, Agger, Ayala and Wilson in contention. If Kelly is half as good at CB as he is at RB then he'll be awesome for us. Also, I reckon we need Turan AND Young; rather like Man U have Valencia AND Nani.
Why would Bale leave a Champions League team for a Europa league team. Have Spurs nailed 4th.Correct me if I'm wrong, they haven't.I if I were Bale would prefer to play for a top manager instead of a clueless nitwit that thinks getting thrashed 5-0 on aggregate by Real Madrid is a massive achievement.Secondly Redknapp may not be manager of Spurs next season,He's due in court over the summer for tax evasion. It carries a 3 year custodial sentence. He'll get out after 13 months.
Ze Liverbird...Kelly,Wilson and Ayala are the future. Agger makes Stephen Hawkins look healthy and Carra is not going to be around for ever. Agree with Kelly as a center back, but we need someone along with Carra to bring them on. Mertesacker fits the bill. If Carra and/or Agger are injured if we are left with Kelly,Ayala and Wilson as good as they are, not alot of experience.
I reckon Reina staying beyond the summer is down to the owners flexing their muscles. If they flex their muscles,I expect Reina to stay.I however do believe they will flex their muscles.
I think Pepe's seen a dramatic improvement both on and off the pitch. I think he genuinely loves playing for the club. Had to laugh at media speculation that United where going to buy him in the summer, like Mr Dalglish would allow that to happen.
Nah,There is more chance of Posh Spice putting on weight and Fat Wayne losing some, than Kenny selling Reina to United.
It's a little ironic that the injuries are mentioned alongside hopes we get the Europa because I see the two as linked. We got the best sports medicine team we could find last season. The injuries are returning sooner and I think some have likely been prevented by the extended warmups Brukner introduced but beginning the season in July because of the Europa doesn't help. In fact, it could be the very thing which prevents us getting a league title next season because the top 4 won't be going to Backofbeyondistan in July to play in a turnip field.
If Pepe does leave, and I like to think it's a big if, then what would you think about Manuel Neuer from Schalke? They're unlikely to qualify for Europe in any form next season, so it wouldn't be a 'step down' in that sense.
Neuer is almost certainly going to Bayern Munich so thats out of the equation. To the person who wanted Bale, how much do you think he would cost because they are pricing him at over 40 million? Wouldn't it make more sense to buy a different winger like Sanchez or even Jarvis?
I don't think we will go for Bale as much as it would be a great signing. He will be too expensive and we need a couple of top quality signings at least. Take note i'm a Liverpool fan after your earlier insult.
I agree that you would be better off going for different players to Bale, you could probably get Hazard and Sanchez for the same price as him! When did I insult you by the way?
