If we where to sign Sahin and no further players this transfer window who would you select as our strongest starting 11 and subs bench?

I think i'd go for something like:

    ------------Sz--------------
    Sagna---TV---Kosc---Santos
    ------Arteta---Sahin------
    Walcott----Wilshere----Cazorla
    ----------Giroud----------

Subs: Flappy, Mert, Gibbs, Diaby, Rosicky, Podolski, Gervinho

Hardest decision: who to play up top out of Podolski and Giroud.

I've decided to push Cazorla out wide to accomodate our other midfielders as i think that is where our quality lays this season - in having several very good midfield players. There are countless ways of setting up the midfield, and i'll be interested to see how you lot think we should line up.

For more open games or games where we are likely to hit on the counter i'd go for Gervinho or Oxocube on the wing for the pace and directness.

I expect Cazorla will stay central however and that there will be a rotation of sorts in midfield with Gerv/oxocube taking the left wing. So what's your starting line-up and subs bench and why?

(Oh and Santos i rate very highly which is why he is in the team ahead of Gibbs!)

So Walcott out for Podolski and Gibbs in for Santos?

I agree having Podolski on the field makes us more solid but Walcott is one of our most productive players of the last couple of seasons and i wanted to find room for him!

Santos > Gibbs though imo. Up until his injury he was getting better and better. He was unfit when he first played for us and he was judged by alot of people to early. Before hsi injury he was statistically our best defender and going forward he is fantastic. I do rate Gibbs though and think we have no problem at LB as one of these two will make it there own.

Bonstar - dropping Sahin for Pod. Would take some of the creativity out of the team but add extra firepower :)

Could start with a formation like that and then bring on Sahin later after we have the goals to control the midfield and game - wooooo!

For the first time in ageas we have a team that can be played around with without it looking like it dips in quality! Far more dynamic squad than over the last couple of seasons imo.

Based on his name alone I would try Podolski there but I have a feeling Gervinho is going to make that position his own this year, and Giroud and Podolski will fight for the CF spot.

Your midfield looks packed, especially if you get Sahin. The problem is whether your strikers get enough goals. I would have taken the combined money for Giroud and Podolski and gotten a high profile, Damiao type.

The question for us isn't so much our defense (our defense should be strong, actually) as if AVB and all the changes he brings will turn out to be good, bad or indifferent.

We will get the goals. Under Wenger's management, we have never struggled for goals, it will come. If Giroud and Podolski do not combine to match RVP's tally, then the likes of Gervinho and Walcott will hopefully improve and chip in with more goals, also with Cazorla in midfield, we have a truly amazing player who can create chances and he for me is a huge upgrade on Ramsey and Rosicky who did that job last season. For me, the main problem is the defence. It always has been and I will wait to see how we defend this season.

All I know is not starting Mertesacker will mean a big improvement. And Santos has impressed everyone with his speed...

I'm not set on a 'best team' yet, but this week I'd like Giroud to start in place of Podolski with the rest of the team unchanged.

From what I've seen so far:

    ---------------Szczesny--------------
    -Sagna--Koscielny--Vermaelen--Gibbs-
    ----------Arteta-----Sahin-----------
    -Gervinho------Wilshere-------Cazorla-
    ---------------Podolski---------------

But I would like to see more of what Giroud can do.
