This along with the added implication of European football is likely to make last seasons heroics difficult to repeat. Having said that, they still have good enough players to beat us come 17th September therefore shouldn't be taken lightly. In their last match against Aston Villa, Newcastle 6 shots on target compared to the oppositions 9 shots whereas Everton tore apart Aston Vila just a week before which could be a good indication of how both teams are performing, though they aren't extremely reliable pieces of information to go off. Newcastle's stand out player thus far has been Hatem Ben Arfa who has scored 2 of Newcastle's 3 league goals this season whilst Cabaye and Cisse have amongst others had sluggish starts. Everton Let's just hope we can just push the last performance to the side and continue with the form we showed against Manchester United and Aston Villa. Firstly, it would be ignorant not to applaud the opposition who pressed well and created many chances with new signing Yacob commanding the midfield. However, we were extremely poor from back to front. Perhaps for the next game David Moyes will drop Marouane Fellaini back into the double pivot depending on the seriousness of Gibson's injury whilst moving Mirallas into the creative trio of midfield behind Jelavic. I don't think the result will be a reflection on the future of our season though so there's no need for moods to be dampened yet even though it was poor performance as we know that the likes of Fellaini, Distin, Baines, Pienaar etc are unlikely to play any worse than that this season so surely things can only improve. This will be the 163rd competitive meeting between the sides. please log in to view this image Potential injuries Everton Darron Gibson - Groin strain - unknown Newcastle Danny Simpson - Hamstring injury - unknown James Perch - Neck injury - 17/09/12 Ryan Taylor - ACL Knee injury - March 2013 Cheick Tiote - Calf/shin injury - 17/09/12 Shola Ameobi - Hamstring injury - 17/09/12 Sammy Ameobi - Hamstring injury - unknown COYB
We're both coming off a bad game, so a game this early versus those in and around us is even more important, as we both try and capture some early momentum. Everton is a hard place for us to go, as shown by the last few results at Goodison (the one win being through a magnificent solo effort), so I'd take a draw. Hopefully we just show a bit more than we have in recent weeks.
Evening toffees. Not posted on here in a while. I'm coming to the match on Monday, driving up from the West Midlands. Plan on parking at Walton Sports Centre and walking to the ground as it looks like good access from the motorway. Is this a good place to park? Is it easy to get away from after the match? Cheers.
Great tribute before kick off Its a pity the officials couldnt provide a great job Fella was not offside and Big Vics header crossed the line truely robbed...
Thank you EFC, Davie Moyes, the blues supporters(and NUFC)for your superb tribute and show of support before the game. Blood is thicker than water. PS. You were robbed and should have won.
Can I just echo what the last few posts have pointed out. That was a magnificent gesture last night and will never be forgotten. Very emotional and beautifully done. Sincere thanks
