Looks solid, really is a shame if we did see him go at the end of the season, honestly cant see much between him and Seabourne. I think he is a good talent and one for the future, and should be kept on.

Do you really think that he will be playing ahead of the other 3 next season ? I can't really see it myself. He would of played more this season if that was the case. It seems strange that a player that hasn't played more than a couple of games at League 1, then you expect him to play in the championship. Big jump up as most players will tell you. Being 4th Choice in a team with 3 other very good CB's must be hard. He does look like he could be a decent player but as yet is unproven. Until he gets to play regular first team football & keep the other 2 out he has alot to do. Potential is one thing but being first choice is another & proving it. I disagree about what you have always said about Seaborne. Seems you have always had a real dislike for him. But fact is he has been involved in several wins & did really well when he came on against Rovers the other week. He dealt with their player who was quick & a real handful who was giving Jaidi a ragged time. Showed his experience & what a good player he is. That's the mark of a good CB to be brought on in a high tempo game & contain their striker. Yeovil when Martin played, looked uncomfortable on the ball & made several errors where he was lucky not to get caught out. Not sure what the future holds for Martin but like all players I hope he does well. Fonte is a hero & as 4th choice I can't see Martin jumping the queue at the moment.

Hard being one for the future at 21. Okay to be told this at 16 or 17 but when you are 20 or over you really want to be at least on the bench. Think Seaborne has the experience & edges it over Martin. Adkins obviously rates Seaborne a lot more & has proved this by using him. Do we have any youngsters coming through the ranks ?

Stephens from Plymouth apparently has fantastic potential for the future. He must be really good as he is under 18 & we paid good money for him. Another youngster pushing next season for a chance. Not sure if we have any others ?

To be paying £125k ? I think this was this figure for a young defender under 18, things are looking really good for the future. He will as well be pushing for a place on the bench next season. He comes with great references & I am pretty sure we did our homework & snapped up this little young gem. Can't wait to see him play.

    Much prefer Martin to Seaborne

Matin has the potential to progress into a very good centre back. He seems to have all the attributes needed and fingers crossed he can improve with us as we hopefully move through the divisions.

Seaborne was the worst signing Pardew made, doesn't feel me with confidence. Never takes charge of the situation, always allows the ball to bounce and would be out of him depth in the championship (If we get there) IMO.

Martin has potential but lets see what he can do ? He may have all the attributes but proving you can use them on a weekly babis is a different matter like Fonte does.

I Think if Seaborne was as bad as you say he wouldn't even be in the team. Seems Adkins prefers him to Martin by using him . If a player was better than what you have you play him. Adkins & the coaches see them daily & to get a place on the bench this season is hard. Was undecided about Seabourne but watched him at the Rovers game & was impressed. He came on & took charge of the situation to replace Jaidi. Martin not on bench. So what does that say from a managers point of view. Seaborne is only a couple of years older than Martin & has experienced 2 back to back promotions. One as captain. Looked up his stats earlier. Lets hope he proves you wrong & does well in the championship next season.

I hope they both do well & get their chances to improve as they are both young & learning all the time.

    Much prefer Seaborne to Martin.

Think he will prove this next year in the championship.

Thought Pardew's signings were great all of them. I am one of the few Punch fans well. Also Sad to see Semi go when he was not resigned as thought Pardew did well with signing them all.

Don't get me wrong if he's wearing a Saints shirt then I'm 100% behind him but he just doesn't seem confident when he plays. Like you say coming from being captain at Exeter and the success he had, I would expect him to be a little more commanding.

In fairness with a steady run in the side and the chance to get a better understanding with Fonte maybe we would see the best of him.

    I'm just not yet convinced.

I would love to think that Aaron is going to sign a new contract once we know where we play next season to dictate wages per contract..

Today would be a great game for him to show what he can do.

It could be possible that he is more a cover for Fonte than Jaidi as he is right footed with Seaborne left footed and cover for Jaidi.

Hopefully gets a run & can show more of what he did at the Rovers game. Can convince you.

Martin seems to have the luxury of not being questioned.

    Jaidi performing well though.

Like you hope they all do well.

Great to see Seaborne start today & put in a good solid performance with a clean sheet. 3 changes to the backline & keep a clean sheet shows what Adkins keeps saying. Strength in our squad.

Was pleased Martin managed to get a place on the bench getting 1 touch of the ball in the last few minutes of the game. Jaidi managed to get his well earned rest.

Well done for the Header from Fonte. Proving why he is 1st choice.

I believe Wally Downs was trying to get Aaron Martin and Sam Argent to West Ham, who he thought highly of both.

As for youngsters coming through, Sam Argent is for me the most promising player in the acedemy/u21's. He's a right back and whenever I have seen him, he's been solid and great down the right flank.
Ben reeves who is a left back is also good, and we also have our 6ft 5 Ryan Tafazoli who is centre back, along with Aaron Racine who's also a centre back. Not sure if Saville is still with us? And of course the youngster we just signed from plymouth who is a right back, although doubt he is better than Argent.

Jack Stephens has represented the country at international level i think. I think we have a nother Richardson, Butterfield battle going on in the 'Elite' U21's.

Oh and most importantly.....this is my 100th post :D

The Queen is a Saints supporter, she wore our colours at the 1976 Cup Final.
