After everybody talking about the possible arrival of a striker in january and the departure of others id like to ask people who they think we should have never sold and who was a big mistake to sell. Premier ship years only :p no old division

I think that the 2 biggest mistakes we made letting the player go is James milner to aston villa, He was young and he was good enough for city to buy, We could have kept him on if we kept colo and guti,

    Charles insomnia (lol) R.i.p legend.

Fast, Skillful, Good passer, Held up the ball well, Got sold for less then he is worth and probs ruined his career.

    Dietmar Hamann
    Andy Cole
    Sylvain Distin
    Jose Enrique
    Aaron Hughes

I'm sure there's many more but these are off the top of my head.

I don't agree with Milner, he's ****e but N'Zogbia leaving at the time was disappointing.

Milner is hardly ****. He can play in the middle and on the right, he's a great passer of the ball, and his crossing is better than anyone in our side.

    Nobby Solano.

He was sold on the express basis that we didn't need him as we had Darren Ambrose. We not only lost a great player but it made me lose trust in SBR's judgement - - a double blow

Agree with all the names mentioned. I would add:

    Les Ferdinand
    Shay Given
    David Ginola

    totally agree

Milner was a great player for us, he replaced solano effectively as well.

But still i imagine Milner will end up as the best player maker in the current england squad in 5 years time, His speed, power and passing is all being a rm is all about.

Why was it a mistake to sell aaron hughes sorry? i view him as the worst player we have had in my entire life. he cost us every time he played

hughes ???? please explain why this was a mistake

And as for jose i think that on the bases we got santon whos attacking is better then joses i think that was a good sale

6 million for a player we had already for 5m who was younger?

Shay given was not a mistake either

Without that happening i do not think we would have tim krul and harper would still be letting soft ones in

Hughes has been a premier league regular since he left Newcastle. He was solid and definately could have done a job for us. Considering at the time we sold him we had Boumsong and Bramble. Craig Moore, David Rozenhal and Cacapa followed that. He's much better than all of these, so I stand by my opinion!!

Also, regardless of weather we have Santon now, I wish Jose hadn't have left. He went too soon. Using the same logic can we rule out Shay Given because of how soon Krul came into the side? No!

And Milner is ****e, perhaps I agree ever so slightly that WE sold him too soon because he was a good raw talent with us.

Was sad N'Zog couldn't be used better, he was an exceptional talent and I think if he'd have gone to one of the big boys he'd at least be the equal of the likes of Valencia, Nani etc

Craig Bellamy stands out for me as the one we(SOUNESS) really should have stood by(BLOODY SOUNESS), even if he is a loud-mouth gobtwat. Incredibly talented footballer. His pace is outstanding even today, his touch and technique wonderful, and he wasn't as selfish as you'd expect a striker to be after the days of Zola (my god pass the ball you greedy little so and so... he's open, he's open, he's still freakin' open!!!! No, you stick to the 25 yard shots then... <doh>). Man, I really really despire Souness. I think, if we could have a Nevermind the Buzzcocks type of line-up, with the likes of Allardyce, Roeder, Kinnear, Shearer etc, that fecking half-wit would stick out like an ugly 14 year old outside Jimmy Savile's caravan.

How some bookies had him to be Blackburn or Bolton manager, I will never know.

Great call! He gave his all for us, and to this day, I can't understand why he was sold. He certainly didn't want to leave.

Hamann, Zoggy and Enrique all wanted out, so can't really be included. Part of the proviso has to be that they didn't really want out.

Andy Cole, Les Ferdinand, David Ginola.

One I'd mention is Louis Saha. Not quite "sold", rather we didn't take the option to part with £1.5m for him....he cost a lot more than £1.5m a decade or so later at 34...

On a positive note, at least we're not really a feeder club.

    I'd say
    Woodgate
    Solano
    Milner
