I think this has often been the case, but don't think it is now.

I'm frustrated that we appear to be going out not to lose rather than win, I'm frustrated that the ball players at the club seem under instruction to not use their gifts, and I'm frustrated in the seeming lack of confidence to have a punt.

Reverse it though, and I have absolute faith in the manager, I just want to see us utilising the real talent we now have going forward more productively, if anyone wants to doubt my love & support for the club, come stand next to me in the North for the game!

I just think this is our time, and we need to make the most of it, get established now, and over the course of the next 4 years with the new sky deal, and we can hang around the top 6-8 for years.

**** it up, and the gap to that level will become unbridgeable, we've been also rans for too long.

The 2 league cup games against lower league oppo the lads have ran with the ball and zipped it about, yes , lower standard, but also when we look the better side.

More of that, and we'll be a very decent side!

I'm not blaming MoN fully, although i admit i ****ing hate this lone striker malarky, which is what we play as Sess is in no shape or form a striker,

I'm actually blaming some of the players more so..MoN and Short done their bit, and brought in potentially top players, but with a 5th of the season gone, several pf these players are under performing, for un-known reasons, and to many at the same time..

Quality players like Sess and Johnson are way below par, an seriously need to sort it out, as they have a very good striker waiting to bury the ball into the net, but the poor ****er is being starved at present..

I have left McClean out of the equation, as i honestly don't know if he is a flair player, or maybe just a half season wonder, so time will tell on that.

If the forward half of the team can get any where near the performances as the defensive half of the team, things can turn around..

Oh one final thing, for things to change in the centre of midfield, Catts/Colback combo needs to be dropped quicker than Jimmy Saville's flies.

Ah right - and, although we've scored less than anyone in the division we must have a better goals to shots ratio than most in those leagues at a guess?

Goals are the only thing that matters - so maybe you should be thankful we didn;t have more shots against you lot!

of course my opinion wouldn't matter if I was the only one on here, I'd be talking to myself <doh> Idiot.

All of your opinions on the other hand are based on your own fabrications of what other people on here are saying, thus undermining any point you try to make.

I'm well aware of that, however that is simply a way of demonstrating how dire the style of football is you play at the minute, as well as the fact that 95 percent of people on here are well aware that hoping for Fletcher to bury every chance isn't a sustainable way of playing. Football is about entertainment isn't it? Winning by keeping clean sheets and burying your chances, yes. But you aren't winning at the minute, and that's the point. Many posters believe that for the wins to start coming the style of play has to change to allow you to create more chances, that's all.

Check out mon's previous style of football at all his clubs, surely people could see this coming. One dimensional football at best, sessegnon is a shadow of his former self at the moment, not sure wots up with him. Be interesting to see what happens in the next 2-3 weeks!

Sorry lads. I'm with the realists. Not the IF (ists), It's all well and good saying IF we held on against West Ham, IF Swansea hit the bar instead of equalize, IF Liverpool hit the post instead of equalize, IF Arsenal had took one of the chances instead of miss them all. IF, IF, IF would have made Sunderland top of the league having 24 points out of 24. WE DIDN'T......IF we win tonight...IF we win on Saturday...
It's not right and the optimist know's it just as much as the pessimist know's it. I just can't see us winning the next two games. Tonight will be really difficult and if we go one up top I'll even say we'll get beat. Villa will come on Saturday and attack us while we sit deep and let them do it. MON will play his way and you know what, he was so happy with the (non) display and (non) performance at Stoke that it's a nailed on certainty that he won't change his formation.
I know it's been well documented, but one goalscorer in eight, zero attacking threat, no one to even pass a ball for crying out loud.
I'm in the pessimist camp until I see something that's going to give me something positive to shout about.
Let's hope by 16;50 on Saturday I have egg on my face. No need to say I told you so as there'll be no one happier than me.

    Okay then.

We have lost only one game this season.
We have 3 clean sheets in 8 games
We have a strikes who has almost half of the goals our top striker acquired all last season in 7 games.
We are not playing well but have the likes of Johnson, Sessegnon and McClean not firing at all at the minute, to come back into form.
We have a game in hand on all the teams above up currently.
We are in the last 16 of another cup competition.

No ifs and no maybes about it. Not all bad then is it?

Guys - we have got square pegs in round holes (IE players being asked to play in alien positions)

This has been partly to injuries etc, but added to that is the fact that Fletcher is a goalscorer and not a target man so we have NO outlet.

Its f***ing obvious to me, that we need Gardner in midfield with Sess, Cattermole and 1 other, AND another forward on the pitch to support Fletcher - my choice would be Saha!!!

Give that team a run out tonight, and we will stuff the smogs!!!

BUT - MON will not play it, as he will be resting some of the players..........

We have been poor in them all.
We DO have a decent defence (but we are playing defensive football)
Granted (it's not what he is doing, it's what everyone else isn't that's worrying)
Agreed (needs to be sooner rather than later though)
That result is no gimme (it goes in the IF column)Points in the bag or games in hand!!
True (tonight is a Massive game) but just as a lot of us are saying we'll win the next two, I'm just not that confident.

Of course things will change for the better? Surely we will go on a run? However we're a 1/4 through the season on Saturday and it needs to start around about now.

I don't think you understand how averages work do you? I also can't believe you're boasting about being in the last 16 of a cup <laugh> I can't remember when that became a major honour, you really need some more straws to clutch. The really funny thing is you all went through the same cycle under Bruce.

It was still a pathetic display and you deserved to lose. The diagram is only a rough guide, it was made some time ago.
