Another toughie for North End as Notts County arrive in town, County have not lost away since sometime just after the 2nd World War although they seemed to scramble a point at Scunny on Saturday, thanks to that Lee Hughes.
Well led by Keith Curle after the complete nonsense of the Sven reign, they will be there or there abouts at the end of the season.
Curle has recruited well, a useful keeper from Southampton, Bialkowski, Dean Leacock isn't bad either, in midfield ex Blackburn player Alan Judge looked useful last season and they've bought Enoch from Tranmere.
Westley says we have learned a valuable lesson after yesterday's draw, hopefully it is don't sit back on one goal leads and make daft substitutions.
North End's keeper scored against County last season, it won't happen again, beware the away kit horror which will be seen on Tuesday

A horror tackle on Preston's Scott Laird overshadowed the game against Notts County which ended goalless. A double footed lunge deep in injury time by County's Campbell-Ryce left the Preston full back with a broken leg, Campbell- Ryce was shown a straight red card by Referee Harrington. Laird is now out for the rest of the season, Campbell-Ryce will be back in three games.
This was a game North End should have won dominating the vast majority of the game. Their first half performance was excellent on and only some poor finishing and excellent defending stopped them from scoring.
An early Sodje header which went wide when it should have gone in set the tone. Wroe was denied by a brilliant save by County's impressive keeper Bialkowski although minutes later the Polish stopper got extremely lucky when he was dispossessed by Beavon at the edge of the penalty, Beavon cut towards the penalty spot and fired in a shot which was going in until a brilliant clearance from the line by a County defender. From the resulting corner County again cleared the ball from the line.
County had a brief period of pressure just before half time which roused the travelling faithful from their slumbers.
The second half was more even with little in the way of goalmouth incident, although Preston possibly should possibly have had a penalty when Sodje was shoved in the back although he possibly did go to ground rather easily.
County managed a couple of tame efforts by Judge but as the half progressed they were quite happy to waste time and slow the game down to a virtual standstill, then the that tackle.

Preston North End 0 Notts County 0 Att 8013

Forgot to add credit to the County supporters who stood to applaude Laird on his way to hospital unlike some of the knobs on Twitter who thought it funny

Yes. A terrible challenge & foul. I read that some posters on LEP are querying whether the police should be involved. After all, trying doing that tackle to someone on Fishergate on a Friday evening & see what happens.

A failure to score against a negative team. Perhaps, despite his age, LT will bring that extra bit of skill to unlock such defences. At least NE did not let any goals in but then were there any attacks from NC?

I expect a good reaction from NE against The Orient at the weekend.

Fair comments Mugpie, all teams seem to be a bit negative when they arrive at Deepdale, expect a large following from Deepdale for the return passions have been raised.
