    What about giving them more freedom wide but covering the middle of the park. Both Barca full backs get forward stretching the play and creating space in midfield a lot of teams work hard to close down the wide areas but with Barca it is almost a ploy to create more room for Messi Inesta and Xavi through the middle, the ball does not get crossed often.

    If you leave your full backs deal with whoever is wide and show them the line not alowing a pass in field this may work.

    I think it is safe to say United won't be opening up and trying to place Barca at their own game. For me, Messi simply has to be man-marked. Pepe did a good job man marking him for Real in the first leg until he was harshly sent off.

    I don't think it's a game for O'Shea, Carrick or Berbatov. This is a game for players who can work hard, create and keep mistakes to a minimum. We need to test Barcelona's pace at the back and try and expose them. I can't see Hernandez starting the game but he may feature. The most robust line-up I can think of is;

    VDS/Rafael/Rio/Vidic/Evra/Park/Anderson/Giggs/Fletcher/Valencia/Rooney

    If it all goes pear shaped and Messi is scoring from a header again, revert to 442 and get Hernandez on and go for it.

    SW6: Sunday is poised as well as any league game I can remember. I just can't call it either. The incentive is there for both teams in more ways than one. Chelsea eager to avenge the CL, having made up the points gap and already beaten us earlier in the season, United trying to regain the title and avenge last season's OT defeat. I'm glad its at OT but it feels like a coin-flip at the moment.

    Man for man, Barca are easily the better side. Man u can't afford to be pretty in this one.

    A compact 451 is probably your best bet. don't let the men in the middle have time to play. If they do, keep your shape and let them play infront of you - they are unlikely to get much if they are forced to loft the ball into the box. Wide men who can track back will also be useful if their fullbacks are overlapping.

    As for attacking, long balls, counter attacking with pace and exploiting the space behind the overlapping fullbacks are your best bet.

    Also rough them up a bit, nothing too crazy but let them know you're there. Barca, like Arsenal, are football purists who will hate this. Commit fouls before they get into dangerous areas to slow the tempo and frustrate the living **** out of them.

    Can't guarantee anything, but Man U should be used to playing gash football this season and getting results!

    IMO no Hernandez until 70 minutes, play six in midfield and play on the break until 70. Hastle their midfield and be prepared to substitute anyone on a yellow card as there would be a strong likelyhood of a sending off otherwise. Park and Valencia to work like devils covering the fullbacks but breaking at speed when the opportunities present themselves. Also play Barcelona at their own game and make sure they have players booked.

    If you cross your fingers any tighter you'll get arthritis, son.

    For the record, your lot would have been spanked by Schalke.
