Don't know if anyone else has seen this, but I thought it was quite interesting. http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/ba-to-cisse-not-likely/

    Particularly this bit:

Watch Ba closely, he is a selfish player. He has good skills and will score good goals but he is not a team player. He does not have the work ethic of Cissė, nor does he have the vision, or if he does, he chooses not use it. Perhaps this is why Newcastle looked at their best last year with Cissė leading the charge and Ba playing a more secondary role. Cissė scored the goals that Ba can get but he also was not afraid to pass it off when required, for the betterment of the team.

When the January transfer window opens, I hope Pardew sees it the way I do, keeps Cissė and moves Ba to bring in another midfielder who can work well with Ben Arfa. I then truly believe we will see the Newcastle United team that looked so promising last season.

Over the last few matches I've started to think that maybe a shake up of the team would be for the best, sell a couple, bring more than a couple in, just because from what I pick up it sounds like we are so flat right now (I haven't seen the last few games so happy to be corrected on that if needs be!). Selling Ba would be controversial in some respects but if it were for the betterment of the whole team then I think I would be OK with this.

Ba is better than Cisse for me. Better all-round player.

I agree, said all summer and been saying it all this season when talking about ''the release clause''

Would selling Ba be that much of a bad thing. Assuming we reinvested into someone who could play a similar role as Ben Arfa. In the summer I was calling for Hoilett. I'm not sure who I'd go for now but there'll be option out there.

Doesn't even have to be similar to Ben Arfa it could be a striker who can compliment Cisse. Someone like Carroll.

No, I think if you look past Ba's goals, then this article makes a good point.

Rarely does Ba pass to Cisse or play him in, even when he's in a better position. I've seen it countless times every home game.

If we sold Ba in January and brought another striker with more pace who can complement Cisse more I won't be bothered...as long as we DO replace him.

Sorry, but Cisse was greedy as **** during his scoring run, now Demba is doing the same we should sell him?

Demba Ba is on fire right now and he has the right to shoot on goal if he wants.

If Ba goes I would love for us to get Remy.

And I find the whole thing about "no work ethic" laughable. He worked his ass off on the LW to create space for others last season, and he has the right to ****ing be a bit greedy now and score goals.

Sorry, but this bloke is off his tits. Ba doesn't just shoot at every opportunity. Both Demba's are good all round players when on form.

Yeah, if you look past Ba's goals. Look past the goals of our top scorer and the guy who's a gained us a lot of the (small amount) of points we have. Sell him to hopefully get another guy scoring, a guy who's fluffed a ton of chances this season, including a penalty (I'm sure that was Ba's fault too though <doh>).

Like Tash said, Ba was working his arse off in LW last season for the good of the team. He also helped out the midfield a ton during the earlier part of the season. Even this season Ba has done a lot more work for the team than Cisse has.

Whey ya bugger, haven't posted on here in a while...

But no, Ba is better than Cissé, he just needs to man up and accept that it's better for the team if he plays on the left of a 4-3-3.

At the end of the day if we were playing 4-3-3 with Ba on the left this thread would be a non starter. However as we're not (due to our manager's failings) it causes debates such as this one.

If we had to lose one of Demba or Cisse I'd chose Demba, although both are very valuable if managed correctly.

    I don't mean to stupid.

But surely selling Ba, for the touted £7m means we will have £3m to spend on a new player.

Thus meaning we will either get a worse player or no player.

We are already light on the ground, so don't sell players and just hope to god that MA digs deep. :D

Don't get me wrong i agree! but frankly its being a detriment to the team at this point, it was similar to some points at last season (second half) have you noticed he shoots a lot from distance recently, and apart from setting the goal up the other night. None have been successful

Well , for me, I was quite afraid when Cisse passes it off. It's mostly to an opponent <doh>

Ba only looks threatening this season like he is trying to impress other clubs, Not win games

I said before stoke cisse was gonna score first. These 2 do not seem to get along and i would sell BA long before i would sell cisse

Ba needs to go back on the left wing, for me it's just tough if that makes him unhappy. It worked great last season, although l appreciate Ba did not want to play in that position, and we are short at the moment of all the players necessary for our best 4-3-3. That said....
We cannot pander to any one individual, no matter how good they are, it's about the team and what is best for the team
Pardew selects the team, and it's formation and it's style of play, if Ba is unhappy he can leave in January, the way things are going l think he will want out in January anyway, but, if we get back to winning ways he may stay. Who knows, but the way things stand at the moment, what have we got to lose.
Anyone who sits in the top job, no matter what the industry is NOT going to win any popularity contests, they are there to make decisions, especially those that are going to be unpopular. Time for Pardew to get a grip on this!

Not for me but I understand where you are coming from. His reluctance to play left for the good of the team has not been kind to us. However from his point of view it is understandable. He wants to play through the middle. I think the solution is simpler for me. We need a wide left forward who can ease the burden on Benni and leave a straight fight up top between Cisse and Ba.

I still like Ince, Zaha but our only hope there is if they want to go somewhere where they will play, like Clyne. I'm sure Carr will have plenty of targets.

Obviously the priority is a centre half but I think this is becoming a more pressing need to balance the team and give Pardew genuine options.
