Everybody on here seems to think we need to spend big money in January to buy ourselves out of trouble. This concerns me. We have just spent over 25m in the summer and have spent a bit previously. What has it got us so far?

It's quality players we need more importantly and this doesn't necessarily mean spending big money. We need a good scouting network more than anything. West Brok and Newcastle haven't really spent big money and Swansea picked up Michu for 2m.

I honestly believe if we shop abroad there's quality technical players available at only half the price.

Can't disagree and I do think there is quality out there but there is also a risk involved in shopping abroad - "proven" PL players cost a bit more but it normally brings quality (Fletcher for instance) but buying quality from abroad oiften poses a "settling in" time or "Homesickness" - ****ed if I know but I know if my current employer got a phone call from someone saying "We'll pay you £2m for him and he'll get £200k to sign and £500k a year" I wouldn't be homesick - I would live in a cardboard box if they wanted me to!

Just look at some of our newer players, Cabaye and Tioté etc pretty much hit the ground running but Anita and Marveaux are only just starting to find their feet. It's certainly risky buying from abroad if you need a quick fix for a struggling side.

Fletcher has proven to be decent value for money but I can't think of any English based creative midfielders who you'd get at a decent price.

I reckon Cabaye will be away in January so we'll no doubt risk another foreign purchase to replace him.

Haven't heard anything about that but he is a quality player and there must be higher placed teams looking at him as he's class. You lot miss him and Ben Arfa more than you miss Tiote in midfield.

He's been poor this season imo but he and Tioté work so well together which we haven't seen very much lately. I think his head's been turned over the summer and he's been out of sorts because of it.

Do you reckon MoN will dabble in the foreign market? Can't see it myself, if ever he was then the summer window would've been the time to do it.

The summer was MoN's first proper transfer window to start to make the team his own so I can see why he wanted to add the proven premier league players and as transfer windows go on and on MoN will then look more into the foreign market

thats if he manages to turn it around and gets time

I don't really care 2bh who he signs, weather its someone from the premier league, the french league, korean league or south america as long as they come in and improve us but I have to say that I hope MoN has his scouts out especially taking in games in the french league and bundesliega esp.

I have espn and get to watch a canny few french, german and even russain games and some of the players at the lower teams in those leagues let along the middle to top teams would certainly improve us and cost peanuts.

Ask Arsene wenger (he could be our next manager !) There are players who would come here such has Gomez, Figuero and Rodelago at Wigan, and there is players in europe surely who could play in front of 47,000 regually. I believe the stadium should have been extended by now and we should have been in europe.

Thought MON was looking at a Swedish defender. If the player is right for SAFC I am sure MON will go for him regardless of nationality.
