I would like to see either Donaldson or Le Fonde been brought in for a reasonable fee, say around £200k max, with either Cullen or Cooper (dependant on how many CB we bring in), going on loan the other way as a sweetener.

As for Howard, if he is free and on a low wage then could be a good option. Ideally we could do with a younger more mobile target man, but with the cost of a new keeper and couple of CBs I dont think we will have the million or two it would take to get such a player spare.

Cullen needs to learn the offside rule, then he might be alright. Though we need to be realistic and realise our youth set up isn't the best and we're not going to produce superstars in it's current state. I also think mistakes were made debuting these guys in the Premiership, look at how the only youth really progressing is Devitt, and he had spells in League 2 before coming into the first team.

As for Howard, can't say it really excites me signing a player that's surplus to requirements at a team we should be trying to compete with. Just me though I guess.

Obviously there's anomalies, but Fryatt ain't 35 and close to retirement.

The fact that Sven hasn't got Howard in his plans is no reflection on Howard, he's written off Fryatt and Hobbs too.

He's been 35 for less than a week, if we signed Kevin Phillips then I think most people would be happy, yet he's two years older, not forgetting the bloke who fired us into the Premier League last time, who was three years older.

Ideally we'd bring in a Morison or a Graham, but they'd cost us somewhere between £3-5m and it doesn't look like we're going to be spending that sort of money on one individual player. Big target men are hard to come by and are priced accordingly, Howard has a good goal scoring record, has all the attributes we're lacking in our current strikers and he's not called Adebola, so I think it's not a bad shout.

As for Cullen, I spoke to Nigel about him a while back and he's a big fan. I think he'll almost certainly go on a full season loan next season(where he will hopefully learn the offside rule) and then we'll find out if he's likely to cut it, or not.

I would like us to sign Howard as he went to my son's school and there is a signed Derby shirt of his on display in the main hall which I would love to replace it with a City one! Also think he's a canny larker!!

Howard ticks the boxes - experience + height + prescence.. and he won't cost millions.. don't forget folks without Jimmy sorted we can't spend a lot.

I like him too, I'd be happy with either of these.

    It's just our opinion!

    He's lived 25% of the only life he'll get. <whistle> ;)

This is big boys football. With some players, you can just tell they're not cut out for it. He wasn't even getting in the side at Bradford, and they ARE ****e.

Yes, a few games, and he looked average at best. He did OK at Wigan, admittedly, and deserved his goal.

However, one Swallow doesn't make a good wife. Er, I mean one Swallow doesn't make a summer. :bandit:

Which equates to scoring in the reserves and youth team, which, as I said, means little to the club.

    1. Simpson had shown last year at QPR that he could be a quality player in this league. It was a matter of time, even if he was playing like ****.

    2. "No service or anything"? Well I don't recall Cullen ever having a moment of brilliance. I don't recall him ever using his pace to leave a defender snapping at his heels. Just a bit of a headless chicken routine which everyone overlooks because he's 'just a kid'.

Irrelevant to the point in hand.

Yes, you've mentioned his amazing performances in the reserves, but I don't care much for them. Well, put it this way - I'd take the reserves finishing bottom of their league if it meant we were guaranteed even 21st place in the Championship.

I concur, but if it's anything like his spell at Bradford then I'll certainly not be eating Humble Pie anytime soon.

Well, nobody is expecting him to be an 'instant success'. We just don't expect all of our supposedly decent Youth Team players to be as good a 'quality' as Nicky 'Hereford Reserves' Featherstone.

    Time waits for no man!

I think Steve Howard would be a good option even for a year, Failing that i like Chris Iwelumo who i thought we should of signed at the start of the season. The danny grahams and Morrisons are out of our reach im afraid.

Think youve got the likes of Howard, Iwelumo, Adebola failing those then your looking at lower league targetmen who either probably aint good enough or if they are would cost a big fee.

Howard 's a beast of a bloke.Exactly what we need up top.I don't know the bloke from Adam but he looks like he keeps himself in decent nick as well.I can't recall if he came on against us but when he was warming up in front of the West stand he looked a big old unit.

He would, without a shadow of a doubt, bring a different dimension to the attack for next to nowt( hopefully)and that can't be a bad thing.

I'm not going to individually analyse each point of what you've said as you have just done with my postbut it seems you're just trying to find a way to put a negative spin on everything I put there. My point about the reserves, juniors and friendlies was that he scored a lot of goals, other players in that youth and reserve team didn't, but he did. I was saying it shows he has talent. Of course it's of no benefit to the club but it's an indication that he is a good player. He hasn't cut it in the first team yet but neither has Jamie Devitt who is older and everyone rates him. I don't see how it was irrelevant for me to point out that Cullen was rubbish when everybody else was, clearly the problem was the team rather than one individual, and it would be harsh to judge any such individual for their performances during that spell. Particularly one who is just finding his feet in the game. Your response to the Simpson comparison was that Simpson had a good year last year, but we'd just covered that Cullen also had a good year last year, that's why he made the first team when still eligible for the youth team and got into the first team for the start of this season.

    I just corrected your post.

Stevie Howards legs have gone and i'd rather have Emile Heskey because he is an absolute Leicester Legend.

I'm guessing you all love Dean Windass? Well Heskey is Leicesters version, but obviously he is a higher quality.

He'd be a decent signing for a season or two if we are going to still play the long ball which seems to be most likely. Sorry to say but Mclean isn't cut out for city in my opinion, his work rate is second to none but he doesn't have that cutting edge. Some fans still seem to be waiting for the signing that will "blow their socks off" to put it in Duffen's words, which will not be happening for some time, we need squad players like Howard that won't cost an arm and a leg but can still do the job.
