Boyd Quinn Brady Good home debut by Boyd, did exactly what we brought him in for, adding to our threat up front ! Quinny ran his heart out again and played some nice football with Brady, as always.
How good was that. Looked like we played within ourself too. Really hard choice but for me Meyler broke up everything, outbattled Andre the giant for all the headers superb. Koren probably the only mistake SB has made was putting him up front. New he was going to score as soon as he controlled it and looked up. Boyd pains me to vote for a scruffy **** but. Thats a proper number 10.
(1) Boyd - almost the complete debut goals, skill, tenacity and workrate - excellent. (2) Gedo - we desperately needed someone to score the goals from all the chance we create - we seem to have found him. (3) Quinn - Another fantastic battling performance, never gave in and creative too. Fantastic team performance pretty much all round.
1. Quinn..... was all over the park today and always available. 2. Meyler.....broke up play in mid feild well and made some important blocks 3. Boyd.......took his goals well and was a threat all day
Just seen the goals on Sky. Someone get Gedo signed as quick as possible please! Finally now we look like a goal scoring team. Boyd and Gedo are great loan signings. No need for Campbell and Campbell if they continue like today! Roll on Tuesday night. looking forward to the short drive.
1. Quinn 2. Boyd 3. Brady Elmo did well but seemed to have a slow start (not too surprising seeing as he got married on Wednesday!!!!!)
Brady Boyd Elmo Hard to leave many out. But I think a pattern is emerging, that when our wing backs play well, we win.
Out on a limb I think in my selections, I dont think I could separate 3 as it was a great team performance including management. 1) Gedo - Getting stronger and sharper every game 2) Stockdale - In total command at the back and you can see the defense trust him and work well with him 3) Chester - Never misses a tackle Also mentions from me for Brady & Quinn, Meyler and of course Boyd, although he did seem a little lost the odd time as an out and out forward. Indeed, on one occasion, I saw Koren explaining what was expected. I also agree it was Korens best game for some time in a more familiar role for him. I had to laugh when, from a first half defensive corner, Stockdale was actually trying to explain to Koren where to stand between he and the forward who was attempting to block him on the line, as he was the only player available to do it. hahaha For Elmo, although he played well, i think he had one wedding too many this week!!!
Meyler Boyd Chester I thought Meyler was brilliant in that DM role, i think any questions we had about him have gone with his recent form. Boyds run was brilliant for that first goal and the drop of the shoulder and finish was great, what a player we have. I thought Chester was just a class above, Zigic never went and played on him cause the two times he went up against him Chester won, can tell he is a different class.
1. Boyd - Not just a technically very good player but great workrate all game as well. 2. Meyler - What we've been missing as a defensive midfielder - breaking up play, protecting the back 3/4, playing it simple. 3. Quinn -Been a bit below his high standards from earlier this season but back up there again today. Mentions also for: Gedo - two more good goals and only a great save denied him a hat-trick. Brady & Elmo - both excellent at both ends of the pitch. Chester, Hobbs & Bruce - solid and dependable as usual Koren - much better in an attacking midfield role and great goal too. Stockdale - Some assured handling and punching which was required when facing Zigic.
