AP should have taken the race out of Bobs Worth reach by asking Sir Des Champs to go clear. Geraghty and Walsh prove yet again at the top table they are streets ahead. Davy Russell would have won that. AP tried to ride Sir Des like a bridle horse.
Great ride from Geraghty there... I didnt think he could get him up from so far back.............. but he did... Well done to all Bobs Worth backers...
Bookies might have made a bit back yesterday but getting smashed again today with AFC and Bob's Worth Not 606'ers having a cracking festival by the sounds of it!
Aw bollocks! Silviniaco Conti has never looked like falling all winter. Going so well too. Well done to Bobs Worth backers. Looked cooked for a while there but just never stopped finding.
Im certainly not a member of the AP fan club but struggle to see how Russell replacing him on SDC would have resulted in SDC winning, imo best horse won and on ground that wouldn't have been ideal
The best horse won, with the jockey giving his horse the best chance... As Oddy has just said, get on him for next year, as there dosnt look to be a horse out there that could take the race away from him again...
Not bothering with the Foxhunters, last 2 bets are Double Ross e/w in the Martin Pipe and Rody (check out the form of his Warwick win !!!!!) in the lucky last
Bobs Worth just simply should not have even been allowed into it. To be 8 lengths down and then win by 'outstaying' two nailed on stayers tells you everything. I am so disappointed in McCoy. Last year he rode the daylights out of Sychronised yet he urges SDC to the front and then sits still. The guy is so short of nouse its silly. SDC is a horse who keeps finding when asked and he would have cleared away and it would have been end of story. That said, I bloody love Bobs Worth so fair play Bazza and well done all backers!
Ruby showed his class in that interview with Lydia Hislop. "That's not bad luck, it's good luck. I walked away, the horse is okay..."
I don't think so, Toppy, Bobs had him beat IMHO. About the only thing I've got right (even if only just!) in that thread someone put up a few days ago, i.e. best lay of the Festival - SDC. (Little kitty all gone and I ain't going to chase my losses, but it was great. Congrats to all the Forum winners!).
It's worth remembering that AP had never sat on SDC before the race. He'll have had to ride him as he found him, regardless of instruction and without the chance to watch previous runs.
The difference between Synchronised and Sir Des Champs TopClass is, AP knew Synchronised would stay the Gold Cup trip as he won the Welsh National the previous season so his stamina was assured. AP wasn't sure Sir Des Champs would stay the trip in soft ground.
